Explore the most popular nature trips trails in Wolf River Nature Area with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers and nature lovers like you.

Lot's of trash in the area. Believe most of it coming from Lowe's and shops in
the area parking lot. Not a bad hike.

Nice 6 mile loop with a couple or decent but relatively climbs. Plenty of exposed roots to make it fun. Lots of hikers and runners on the weekend. Combine with Wolf River Trails vía the Greenline Connector (cross Walnut Grove at Farm Road) for a 20-30 mile ride.

I ride this trail weekly, year round. There are two parallel trails in the loop: the yellow and blue, plus a white section south of Walnut Grove, which is up on a narrow bluff. (The map on here actually highlights the white "goat trail" where the trails are shown farthest apart. The blue is there between the white and yellow but not highlighted on this map.) The yellow trail drys out the fastest, but expect some short bursts of deep sand in a few places. Lots of roots, mostly flat with a few climbs/drops here and there, so you can go fast. Lots of runners and bikers on the weekend. Great for trail running and family hikes too.

Not bad watch for unleashed dogs.

Despite recent rains, the trail was in good condition. Of course, there were wet spots and the occasional stream, but all had a "dry" path to cross.

Great for running and biking.

Love it will come back

I run about once a week for conditioning and this was a great challenge for me. Fair and fun.

I love this trail!! I run it or bike it, both are great. I've also run it barefoot, but wouldn't suggest it for this particular trail.

nice trail

very easy multi use trails. frequent runners asking the river portion (yellow). trails mostly unmarked so take a pic with your phone at trail head. do not ride after rain, water will stand

It's an intermediate trail with some bumps and sharp turns and you would enjoy it when it's raining.

Well marked trails although not well worn. Beautiful old growth forest.

Nice trail with variety but poorly marked and if it has rained recently come prepared for a sloppy trail.

Great trail running, lots of variety, new sustainable trails just opened. Just watch for horses, lots of unleashed dogs and snakes in the warmer months. I usually do my 10-13 mile runs out here.

Nice urban trail

Im new to mtb, it is a great place to get comfortable on your bike. Pretty smooth for the most part. I really enjoyed it and will continue to bike here on a regular basis.

I loved it! But watch for hikers and unleashed dogs. I went on a weekend and it wasn't being used much and I was surprised. I love this trail and the bike stand with air and tools you can use to tweak your bike what a nice touch! I will use this trail again and again I highly recommend it moderate but fun!

on Tour De Wolf Trail

Great for beginners. Peaceful. Will see wildlife. Very cool old tombstones inside. Gave it 4 stars because it is not well marked.

I've run the wolf at least 15-20 times, mostly prior to its recent reconstruction.

This is the hot trail of the ones in Memphis. By that I mean you spend much less time in the woods and out traversing scorching field or gravel tracks. As a run, I like it for a change of pace and the winding trails. I'd say it's a bit of a challenge for a newbie 10k. For better wood trails, do the colored trails along north of wolf river. Those are true trail with length of 3, 5,8 and so forth.

I do like the Tour de Wolfe trail, however do not be fooled by these reviews calling the trail any type of flat or particularly easy. Many of these reviews and trackings are in fact for another sets of trails kept by Shelby Farms adjacent to the "main" park. These trails( yellow, blue, and white) are particularly easy, root, and hill free. Tour de Wolfe however is a more difficult trail with many short steep climbs and a few longer one, roots are still not too bad but there are a few.

Great ride. If you stay right on yellow.. Very sandy :)

The Tour de Wolf is in Shelby Farms Park which is owned by Shelby County and managed by the non-profit Shelby Farms Parm Conservancy. This is not a national park. The Tour de Wolf is open to hikers, mountain bikers, and runners. Get the Shelby Farms Park app for more information about paved and other dirt trails and other attractions: Go Ape (ropes/zip line course), boat and bike rentals, guided horseback rides, off-leash dog park, fishing, paintball & laser tag, playground. In the near future Patriot Lake will be expanded with a new Visitor Center, Restaurant/ Retreat Center, Events Stage. The SF Greenline (a rail trail) will also be extended east to Cordova.

Nice area. Lots of decor for the xmas holidays set up. Also a fun playground for the kids with huge slides. Planned on running through the trails but didn't happen. Walked a little through the trail though with the kids and wife.

Great trail for a family bike ride. Nice variety of trail types, saw turkeys while riding the levee. It was hot in the sun, but nice an comfortable on the shaded trails. A beautiful oasis within the city, nice to have such a great set of trails that are so easily accessible.

This is a very popular (and very crowded) unpaved trail in Shelby Farms Park. It was built with mountain bikers in mind, but is used by hikers and horseback riders as well. It goes in and out of woods and meadows, with a final stretch following a gravel road alongside Walnut Grove Road. I ran this trail a lot with my high school cross country team, but I have to say that for hiking and trail running the nearby Lucius Burch trails are much more interesting and scenic.

Nice little trail. As others have said, it's not a difficult area. Nice to have that so close to the city. The wife and I saw about 6 deer moving along together today as we stopped to eat a snack and enjoy the quiet.

Was a little muddy after the heavy rains earlier in the week.

This is not at all a tough trail (it's very flat), but is a nice thing to have in the Memphis city limits. This six-mile loop is really meant for biking, but is great for hiking too. Winding by lakes and other strange things such as old rusted-out cars, it's a great one if you live in the city and don't have time to get somewhere else.
