Went out here around 8 am and one of the most beautiful scenes all the way to the falls. I brought my dog along and she did great. Definitely not for the clumsy footed when it gets closer to the falls and start climbing on rocks near the river itself for the trail; however, my dog made it with no problems and there are plenty of places to sit at the fall to rest before you head back. Would not recommend running during certain parts and watch out for people hiking the AT because they are usually caring a lot of gear and using walking sticks. Overall amazing hike.

One of the most serene hikes that I’ve done. The terrain was not difficult and there was so much beauty along this trail.

Really enjoyed this hike! Great views and cant wait to return. As stated in earlier reviews, the parking lot at the trial head is small and can fill up quickly.

This was a great hike, we missed the original trail exit going down, ended up at the Laurel Fork AT shelter so we kept going down that trail but that part was tracking parallel to the original trail so we kept going and, lucky us, we came out by the waterfall. The top trail is not as easy as the lower trail, the path is very narrow, with parts that are about a foot wide with a big drop on the side, but I enjoyed it way more! There’s a waterfall crossing along the way. Once you reach the stone steps it’s fairly easy to get to the waterfall. The waterfall is absolutely stunning with a big area to relax at. You can also hike to the top of the waterfall but that part can get a bit demanding.
We came back through the lower trail and it was extremely easy (and shorter!).
Great views with lots of campfire/camping spots along the lower trail as well as “sandy” sections on the river side.
It can be easy to get lost if you’re not paying attention, trails are mostly marked but some crossings are not, that’s when this map came in handy. Also, some parts can be very slippery. Parking lot is a nightmare.
I hiked “the loop” (top + bottom) with my dog (heavy Great Dane) and she made it fine, if you have a big dog, I’d recommend being extra careful if you decide to hike the top trail.
One of my favorite hikes in the area.

Awesome view! Great hike!

Terrific trail with some stunning water views! The waterfall is well worth the hike, and the going back flies by. My two larger dogs did pretty well with some of the more slippier rock sections, and would recommend being ready to assist a small dog in a few spots. Highly recommended, we had a blast!

I would recommend this trail to anyone. there are some pretty steep and challenging areas. bring a hammock to set up near the falls, you will need a nap.

Nice hike, would recommend hiking shoes. Lots of rocks to walk over, there's a drop off in the water, below the falls, 20 feet out from the falls.
Beware small parking lot!

love this hike! but lot is small and always full, be prepared to possibly park down by the National forest sign

From Hampton trailhead, if you want a loop near the end of the trail and just before the falls, continue along trail [bypassing the initial decent] up to the AT. Continue along the trail for 10 to 15 minutes until the stone stairway trail [on the right] down to the falls, from there follow Laurel Falls trail back to the parking lot.

Lovely trail, amazing stone stairs and a beautiful water fall.

Great conditions, hiked on 3/27 with 4, 8, 9, and 12 year olds. You need to watch the little ones in parts. There are very steep drop offs. The waterfall at the end is beautiful and the trail crosses the middle of it.

Do not even attempt to bring a stroller. We saw a few folks with umbrella strollers and it was a bad idea.

Fun hike, stairs are worth the climb, in and out, to see the waterfall!

One of the best trails in the area! Whether you start at Cove or in Hampton both trails are very scenic and beautiful. Either way you won’t be disappointed.

Beautiful falls and nice hike!

well maintained trail, good for taking kids

Absolutely beautiful! Be prepared to hike about 370 stairs ☺ This trail is not actually 5.8 miles, only about 2.4 to the falls.

Beautiful trail! I don't think it's actually 5.8 miles but we took the rock stairs down to the falls and went back up the stairs instead of the rest of the loop. The stairs are pretty steep but doable.

Absolutely beautiful place, stunning waterfall. Great trail with varying degrees of difficulty. Several sites for camping. No facilities. Small parking area with close proximity to town.

My 1st waterfall I hiked too! Nice hike and beautiful waterfall!

Awesome trail! Dogs loved the cool water! Definitely go early morning!!

Has everything. Views, creeks, bridges, rock formations, great waterfall, swimming hole, wildflowers. About 5 miles round trip.

Don't go on a weekend, it gets crowded. I hit this up on weekdays and it is one of my favorites. Easy hike with the best waterfall in the area, hands down.
