Situated in a remote section of the upper Cumberland Plateau, Pickett CCC Memorial State Park is known for its geological, botanical, and scenic wonders. The park lies within the 19,200-acre Pickett State Forest, and adjacent to the massive 120,000 acre Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, both areas containing prime wilderness country. Visitors to the park can explore large rock houses, natural sandstone bridges, scenic bluffs, and wild mountain streams. Spring brings dazzling displays of wildflowers, summer an abundance of blackberries and wild blueberries, and autumn a patchwork of colors to the countryside. The park memorializes and preserves the unique work of the Civilian Conservation Corps CCC, who first developed the park. In 1933 the Stearns Coal and Lumber Company donated nearly 12,000 acres of land to the State of Tennessee to be developed as a forest recreational area. Initial development of the area by the Civilian Conservation Corps CCC occurred between 1934 and 1942, it consisted of hiking trails, 5 rustic cabins, a recreation lodge, a ranger station, and a twelve-acre lake. Many of the original buildings were constructed of native sandstone rock that the CCC boys quarried from the nearby forest. These beautifully built buildings have stood the test of time, thus qualifying the park to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The trail is not being managed and is currently grown over to the point of being impassable. I made it 1/10th of a mile and had to turn around.

Awesome! Great plant life , not a lot of wild life , but a first for us. Came upon a mother black bear and her 2 cubs. Great experience. This trail is a must if your in the area!

Great trail for the whole family.

Great payoff and interesting bluffs

Nice hike. Needs a few more trail tags

This trail is right in our back yard! Absolutely love the wildlife. Can be a very trafficked trial. It’s peaceful when no one else is out there just to sit in the cave and pray. It’s amazing what God has created for us!

Great loop. Fairly easy hike with a couple of moderate sections. Some areas are pretty muddy after rainfall so take choice of footwear may need to be a consideration.

I'd call this an easy to moderate trail depending on one's fitness level. if water is high, you may have some issues with a low bridge along the way but a great trail with beautiful changes in topography.

Nice little nature walk. Beautiful rockhouse. For those of you with walking problems make note it does have a bit of an elevation change.

Hiked this trail this past weekend. Beautiful views, overlooks, out cropping and plants. The trail was a. It confusing at some points. When you start at the trail head you will come to a sign about a quarter a mile laters. There are 2 paths, hidden passages is the one on the left. About a quarter mile later you will come to the Hidden passages spilt and you will want to go right.
There were a number of down trees and in some places the path is non-existent, but hey that's all a part of hiking:) this was a beautiful trail and I would def hike it again

Hiked this weekend and camped at double falls Trail maintenance is non existent this is not what I expected from a wealthy state park system Trees down across trail looked as they have been there 10 yrs Saw briers all around.

Found this to be a nice walk in the woods. The cave is impressive; the natural bridge is too! Well maintained with good signage. We had a lovely day to walk and lots of peace and quiet. Caught the last little bit of Mountain Laurel blooms which delighted my daughter greatly.

A short walk really, but so worth the minimal effort. This is an incredible rockhouse. I had it to myself this morning, sat on a rock and let the wonder of the place fill my soul. The only thing that could have been better would have been for the mountain laurels to be bloom. Take this walk in second week of May and it should be bursting with blooms.
