Description

Norris Dam State Park has 4038-acres located on the Norris Reservoir. Construction of the dam began in 1933 as the first project by the Tennessee Valley Authority, an entity created by the federal government to control flooding and bring electricity to the Tennessee Valley during the Great Depression. The park has more than 800 miles of shoreline which is open to boating, skiing and fishing. A fully equipped marina is also available to the public. Norris Dam State Park also has more than 21 miles of hiking trails, which will satisfy the needs of all hikers - novice to experienced. With a variety of historic and deluxe cabins and two campgrounds, visitors can experience overnight lodging however they like. In addition, there is also the Lenoir Museum that visitors can explore, the Rice Gristmill which displays old farm tools, plows, and a horse-drawn wagon. There is something for the entire family at Norris Dam State Park.

The trail is not used often so look for the trail markers (red and white arrow markers and painted marks on trees) provided on the hike. This trail has a couple steep climbs but nothing to strenuous.Show more
