Can be a bit of a treacherous descent and a hard climb out, but well worth the effort.

All of the reviews were very helpful. The entire trail is easy until you get to the falls. When you turn left at the falls sign, the last 100 yards is descending down stairs and a slippery root filled trail. This was an excellent first hike in Tennessee.

The road up there was gravel and bumpy, but any car can make it. The hike itself was beautiful. Definitly wear good shoes because some spots are slick. Beautiful was tho. Make sure to take North Side trail. I'm a chunky woman and it was still easy for me:)

We've started taking our 6 year old son hiking and he absolutely loved this one. We used Google maps to get there and it took us right to the trail head. He loved getting in the little pools of water hiking up to the main fall. This trail is definitely kid friendly.

This trail is longer than mentioned here. Hiked 3.39 miles in and out. Halfway in you’ll get to meadow area, stay left and trail picks up. A few trees down to crawl over but so worth the sites along Creek. Huge boulders are amazing and lots of water flowing. Loved it!

One of the shortest, but most difficult hikes we've taken. Straight up and down, but the falls and swimming hole were worth every step!

beautiful in July. Great water access for the dogs to play in. many bridges crossing back and forth across the creek

Reviews are spot on! Very intense hike! Starts off fairly flat for the first half but then it gets very steep! Lots of rocks and loose dirt so the climb down gets tricky as well. We explored further down the path until we met the Holston Mountain trail and then turned back. Legs were definitely shaking on the way down! Was able to accomplish this as my 3rd hike after many years off! The view at the top is breathtaking! Looking forward to doing it again in the fall when the leaves are changing! Definitely recommend this hike if you can handle a steep climb up and down! Just make sure you have plenty of water and take plenty of breaks!

hiked this trail at 730am and it was beautiful and peaceful. The only strenuous part was the stairs coming back up from the falls, very rocky.

Steady incline down on the way in makes for an increased difficulty on the way out. Not too bad even for inexperienced hikers, however the trail markers were tough to spot toward the end when the trail became less obvious. Following the sound of the waterfall proved more useful. A few spots where sure footing was not guaranteed.

Loved this hike! The falls are amazing! We did have to walk through water to get there and the trail has some medium sized rocks in a few spots. I would say moderate is a good rating for this trail. So worth it though!

A really nice trail. The waterfalls at the end are excellent but the trail makes you work for it. Trail is a mix of flat walking and quite rocky. There are 4 water crossings which were manageable even with the wet summer.

My friends and I were camping in Hot Springs NC, and decided to take a 45 min drive over to hike this trail. The hike to the falls is beautiful. From the trail head to the waterfall is about a 400 ft incline in elevation. Because of this, going to the falls is mostly uphill. There are parts of the trail that is just made up of piles of medium size rocks. Great place for snakes to hide. We saw two along this stretch of the trail. Overall, I would totally recommend this hike!

Very strenuous hike! The first part of the hike is very deceiving and leads u to believe that its not gonna be that bad. After about 1/4 a mile it is absolutely straight up the mountain for the rest of the hike. There are lots of trees to lean on the way up. If u do make it to the top, you will see one of the neatest habitats around here and some of the most unique wildflowers. Its totally worth the effort!

Did this trail last year. Trail is eroding from not being maintained. Waterfall is spectacular.

Harder than I thought it would be. The trail is as steep as described and is definitely hard. The road to get there has more potholes than actual road so drive with caution. Worth the view!

This trail is PERFECT for the beginning hiker who is in average physical condition. The falls are beautiful and worth the walk!

Would highly recommend this trail! Did it with my dog and she enjoyed swimming in the creeks. Was one of the easier hikes I’ve done and was fairly short. The directions on this app took me to the Gee mountain caves and not the trail head so be careful when you arrive. We just walked about .5 miles and found the trailhead no problem. The waterfalls were BEAUTIFUL.

This is as hard as the other reviews say but man were the views worth it. If you can do it, definitely go

GPS said that we arrived, but we were in the middle of the road with no trail to be found. We found a trail that was not marked at all and the path was overgrown so much you couldn’t see your feet. The gravel road we traveled on for 8 miles was very bad with lots of pot holes and tree limbs down. Worse day of hiking we have had.

This was an absolutely beautiful trail from start to end! If you are looking for a challenging, but not too strenuous 2-3 hour hike that includes a creekside view and sound for a majority of the hike, well-marked and maintained trails, beautiful wooded area, 2 spectacular waterfalls and a great place to play in the water (especially for kids and water dogs!) then this is a great pick! We were very grateful to have read prior posts about how to route around the construction on the bridge, as we would have had no idea how to get to this secluded treasure! It was in the middle of no where, but definitely worth the drive! We hiked to the top fall first, followed by the lower falls trail. There was no way of swimmimg in the water near the falls as it was to rugged, but some great spots to wade in alongside the creek! Great hidden gem!

Short, mostly uphill. The wet and rocky path made the walk difficult for some of our group. At the end of the trail marked on this map, there is a steep scramble path down to the base of the falls.

Make sure you screenshot or have a hard copy of directions to get there as there is no cell service most of the way. The trail is very steep and can be done in chocos but I would not recommend it. It is beautiful once you get to the bottom and definitely a challenge but very fun.

Great little hike with a beautiful waterfall as payoff. There are a few really muddy spots on the trail so make sure you have the correct shoes.

Great trail with wide old Forest road to start but we didn't see any trail blazes and once you get down the trail a bit the wide path does petter out so keep your eyes peeled so you are sure to stay on the trail. Easy to get to trailhead which is directly off main road however you will find yourself to be nice and secluded once you start up the trail you, or at least we that was our experience. wWe didn't come across anybody at all on the trail. There are several great camping spots already well established right on the trail. Great hike for dogs as well.

Hadn’t hiked the falls in probably 8 years or longer, but had a blast. Took the kiddos (4 and 6) and they did very well. Trail is in good shape, creek crossings were fairly deep in places since all the rain lately in the area. The falls were beautiful, again from all the rain lately they were flowing heavy! I definitely recommend this trail for some beautiful scenery. I have hiked this trail since I was a kid and have always loved how it follows the creek up the mountain.

This was an incredible hike!!! For me, the cool part was how beautiful the scenery was along the way. Not only are the falls beautiful, but there are several spots along the way that were just amazing. Granted, I'm not in the best shape and it was challenging in spots, but I definitely felt like it was well worth it.

The coolest thing about this waterfall is you dont have to hike the trail IF you dont want to. There is a road that leads right up to the fall that goes right past it. It was November when we visited the fall so we opted to drive to it. The area is just beautiful and so is the falls!!

My family and I hiked this on a Tuesday in July. It was a fun hike and the waterfalls were beautiful. We got into the water at both falls and had loads of fun. The trail itself is mostly single track through woods and along the side of the river. Going down to the falls is mostly downhill, and the return loop has a stretch of uphill that requires some effort. Nothing too serious though. I highly recommend this hike.

We went twice first time say only 2 couples and 4 days later saterday saw at least 7 couples. We swam it it lots of fun. Did see a large snake. No other wildlife.
