very easy trail for a beginner....now the trail going to the tower was easy except the last half of it got a little steep and a little moderate trail other wise a real easy trail

HikingGreat!

Fairly easy hike except for ascending the trail up to the tower but the view is completely worth it. Lots of other trails to loop into if you want to make more of a day of it. I will say if you’re trying to do the whole loop and go up to the tower it’s helpful to have the AllTrails app on because there are lots of intersections.

This LOOP trail uses Lakeside trail and Chinquapin trail up to fire tower back down to Chinquapin trail left to Big Oak trail right .06 to Lake Road left back to Nature Center. It’s helps to get a paper map from the Park Several trails intersect.

HikingGreat!

Incorporated into a longer hike. Well maintained and good exercise. Can be easily turned into a much longer hike by taking the Indian Pipes trail towards Laurel Run Park. A gem in Kingsport!

Easy stroll around the lake with the highlights being a “floating bridge” and the damn overlook. Nice relaxing walk over a wide and soft footpath. Recommend for all ages and fitness levels

This is a roughly 1 mile down and back at entry point to Lakeside Trail at Bays Mountain. Tons of various mushrooms to search for. Great for the kids to explore nature.

There’s a few routes you can take to get up to the Fire Tower, some shorter than others. Difficult trip if it’s recently rained. It eventually becomes very steep, but the view at the top is worth the trip up.

Plenty of shade here, went with a child and he had no problems. For me it was too easy and a bit boring, however that is my personal preference and what I am normally hiking is in more elevation, difficulty. But for a nice walk with your kid, this is a good choice. Bring bug spray. We saw a few deer

Awesome hike close to kingsport. The hike is pretty much entirely in the shade so even on a hot day it's not too bad. The views from the tower are awesome which you can climb and the steps seemed fairly sturdy. There isn't a lot of room at the top just an FYI with social distancing and all that. The trail is marked very well.

fun hike, a little more steep than anticipated... afraid of heights so a little scary during one part near the end of the trail

We got off trail a bit to start but made it up to the fire tower. Very cool with 360 view. Beautiful day for a hike...I would say it’s an easier trail, not moderate. The only real elevation gain is the 1/2 mile up to the fire tower. Narrow trail and fairly busy.

Nice trail. Quite a few mountain bikers on these two paths, so be cautious and aware on the chestnut trail as it is too narrow to fit a biker and hiker on the trail at a time. Nice tree coverage that protected me from the rain drizzles. Azalea Trail’s creek did bleed over onto the trails; waterproof hiking shoes would be recommended after rainy days. My path was as follows: Nature Center -> Lakeside Trail -> Fern Trail -> Lake Road -> Azalea Trail -> Chestnut Trail.
