Beautiful drive around Custer State Park. The views are gorgeous and it’s a great opportunity to encounter amazing wildlife. We drove in the latter park of the day and were rewarded with a beautiful sunset and lost of animals, plus we got caught in a Bison jam.

This trail is beautiful and has a little bit of everything...flat, grassy, creek side walk turns into a moderate hillside climb to a gorgeous view at the top. We ran into a buffalo, a group of big horn sheep and a white tail buck. We had a 10 yr old and 7 yr old in our group and they handled it without issue.

Very nice, relaxing trail with a lot of easy stream crossings. We saw fish, goats, deer, gophers, a bull snake and a garter snake on the rocky leap, and tons of woodpeckers. I also recommend taking it counterclockwise.

This is an awesome trail, with some elevation but nothing too bad. while I was there, I spotted a family of mountain goats. Not too bad overall!!

An easy, beautiful trail through a wooded area. we haven't done the full trail because we didn't have the right footwear to ford a stream that crisscrosses the trail. There's a waterfall and other water features near very dramatic rocks. Peaceful.

We've driven the loop several times, enjoying the views, photo ops and the wildlife. Despite last week's buffalo round-up there are still several cows, bulls and calves roaming free, stopping traffic. We were also slowed by pronghorns and sheep. Our favorite traffic jam (we caused it) came from feeding the Begging Burros, who will take food nicely from your open, flat hand. We also heard golden bellied marmosets. A highlight of the park!

We hiked this trail in October. The colors are absolutely beautiful this time of year!we saw bison in the distance, some prairie dogs, and a deer. Would recommend for a easy/moderate hike.

Took the trail counterclockwise and descended down the steepest portion towards the (our) end. Good choice. Stream crossings all have very nice timbers to walk over. Trail is wide enough to stay clear of most vegetation. Recent wet weather left a few damp spots, but the tennis shoes stayed dry. Beautiful little scramble near the middle to climb up onto the Leap. Only wildlife seen were squirrels, chipmunks, and two terrified garter snakes — no mountain goats :(

we ventured down this trail post peak season (Oct 1). we saw a giant bison! our feet became soaked (even in goretex footwear) about halfway through due to the overgrown grasses and misty/rainy conditions. really rich colors and great vistas made this an incredible hike!

A lovely prairie trail. A little rugged in some areas and some incline. I'd rate between easy and moderate. Seeing the prairie grasses up close really gives you a better idea at just how diverse a mixed grasses prairie is. We loved it!

The trail head is behind the 2 room school house, we parked at the school house. There was a buffalo in that area as well. We went to the right as suggested by many reviews, I recommend going left for less up hill trekking and to get to the Lover's Leap boulders early in the hike. There are at least 12 creek crossings. I agree that the view is worth the climb up the boulders, it isn't too difficult of a climb. There is a sign at the boulders, but it doesn't mention that it's the spot for the leap. I recommend taking plenty of water, at least 1 trekking pole and a snack to enjoy.

My forth hike this weekend and it may be my favorite. I started clockwise to get the assent out of the way. tough hike for about 15-20 minutes. the remaining hike is relatively easy, although rugged in some areas. My favorite part may be the portion hiking along the stream. It sounded wonderful and refreshing. 2hours start to finish.

Great trail with some beautiful views! Was a bit wet when we went but overall would definitely recommend. It took my parents and I 1 hour and we walked at a good pace.

Great trail with great scenic views. Going counterclockwise the first part has multiple beautiful creek crossings. And Lovers Leap has great scenic views of Harney Peak and other landmarks in the area. Saw a mountain goat and lots of other wildlife.

Took us 2.5hrs to do the loop with 2 big dogs and a baby in a backpack carrier. We went clockwise to get the steep climb over with... that first mile was pretty intense! After we reached the ridge it was easy from there. Saw lots of deer, no snakes. The views were amazing and worth the climb up the rocks! Only 2 creek crossings didn't have boards in place as bridges, but you can hop on the exposed rocks and downed trees.

Lots of wildlife and surprises. Creek crossings, deer, mountain sheep, snakes. Great hike and scenic at top. Definitely hike the boulders at lovers leap. It’s worth it.
