Beautiful area. Very easy. Great place for a picnic or to just sit and enjoy the calm.

Been hitting it hard last few days. Haven’t been up with my dog since coyote sightings. Beautiful this morning. All fog covered when you hit BR

Great scenery. Our dog and kids love this trail.

whole trail is about 140 miles running from Deadwood to Atchison. Formerly a rail line, so no steep grades. bicycle and stroller-friendly anywhere along the very well-maintained trail. I think the "day-fee" is still $3 unless you get a pass.

Easy, typical campground trail at a beautiful lake.

this is four trails, with varying levels of difficulty, that originate and end at Buzzard's Roost. Beautiful view at the end.

this trail is actually a portion of the HLMP park. there are lots more trails here than this one. this is an excellent trail system for hiking and mountain biking right in the middle of Rapid City with several trail heads on any side of these hills.

Great hike with lots of trail options for different difficulty levels. We were on a new trail that they were still working on and it was fantastic. View from the top is spectacular!

Great for an easy hike. Stream runs beside the trail the whole way too. nice scenery.

Absolutely the best trail system in the world.

Great hike. Nice views at the top. A little longer than expected due to other trails with Buzzard Trail.

Me and my wife took this trail last weekend and the view is spectacular. Any age/fitness level will be able to complete this hike as there are different difficulties on it.

Trailhead is easily assessable and is just a few minutes outside of Rapid City. But don’t be fooled, you’ll experience an enjoyable hike and feel like you’ve been plunked down in the middle of enchanted land. I took advantage of a beautiful day and night. Decided to throw up the hammock and spend the night! Go do this!

1st time hiking the Little Elk Creek trail today. Beautiful hike! Most of the trail is fairly flat and easy, but some spots are rocky and make the trail a little more difficult. Most of thw trail runs along side the creek.

Super nice trail and is easy to find. Access to the creek for most of the trail, so it’s great for dogs. Relatively quiet - we didn’t see a lot of people. Note that at one point the trail splits - up and then down by the creek. We went up and had some nice views. If you stay along the creek there, you’ll be scrambling over rocks quite a bit. Also - there is no lake on this trail. You get to about 2.5 miles and the trail connects with a county/forest service road. If you continue hiking along the road for maybe another mile (??) you’d get to the lake. Great hike, though.

My kids and I had a lot of fun. They are 3 and 4 years old so it was easy enough but still challenging for young kids. The little creek is beautiful and the views were stunning.

Light to moderate trail. Beautiful relaxing hike!

Quick hike with a great view

Took the dog with us, nice view, peaceful, and a must do!

Urban hike that is part 300+ acre trail system with many offshoot trails from the trail shown here. Nice views of the Black Hills/Black Elk Peak in one direction, prairie in the other and Rapid City below. Inside city limits so you have traffic noise you won’t find on our other Black Hills trail, but is super convenient for locals and visitors spending a day in RC. A good deal of mountain bike traffic but I have always found these bikers courteous to hikers sharing the trail system.

Great hike, easy to follow and awesome view at top

Had a great hike with my son! Easy hike! Took only one GSD with us this time... Made it easier for my son... Beautiful weather in the low 60’s... Couldn’t ask for better conditions... 2.8 miles this time... Really enjoying hiking... Wish I had started this years ago... We’re doing it now so I guess that’s what matters the most...

Absolutely amazing. You’ll see the entire black hills in a few days.
