Biked this trail last weekend. Awesome views, loved the trail. Very rooted in sections. Would hike next time

We just went on a brisk 1.5 mile walk with our dog post Hurricane Flo. Nice breeze. Not a very busy trail. The Awendaw Path was definitely less traveled as the green got much thicker the further we went. Lots of swamp areas. Look out for the large female banana spiders! Overall an easy straight in and back trail.

Beautiful sights. Rained the night before, so the ground was very wet. Great hike!

As of 07/22/18, it was engulfed by the surrounding swamp due to a few solid days of heavy rain. Still an interesting hike.

This was my first hike on July 10th 2018 and this was great. The trail was well maintained and the scenery was beautiful.

wind comes strong off the lake. would probably cool you off in the summer, but bites in the winter

Enjoyed it very much. Very easy. Lots to see and historical interest (rice paddies back in the day).

Very nice, clear trail. Some makeshift boardwalks in the really muddy places, very flat and completely wooded. You do cross several major highways as well. I love this trail, and will definitely use it again.

I went on the part 1 of this passage on the palmetto trail (4 parts on this passage) camped and then walked back. Not a lot of water stagnant standing water but I brought enough with me. White tail deer, Turkeys lot of flowers big lob Lolly pine Forrest. Saw a lot of pitcher plants. Easy trail very fun and well maintained

I just did part 1 and into part 2 so I hiked 22 miles it was easy and fun actually. Water was a bit dodgy just stagnate ponds but I didn’t go past the 11 mile mark then I camped and walked back out the next day.

We went with an 11 and 7 year old plus a dog. A great easy hike for the whole family.

Great trail. Muddy

Hermit thrush, black & white warbler, downy woodpecker, chickadees, robins, and heard parulas ..... and gators!

Trail is very well maintained! For being right outside of Charleston, it’s perfect to get away for the day and go hiking. The trail is fairly easy to walk - some roots and soft marsh spots. Also, love that it’s dog friendly!! We took our two dogs and had a blast. There were quite a bit of people out walking with their dogs and riding bikes, so it gets some traffic on the weekends. Definitely a hidden gem!

I started my hike at 7 am not long after sunrise and ended it just before 5 pm. Personally I enjoyed this trail and if you have it in you it makes for a great all day through hike. For it being March 1st I saw plenty of reptiles and amphibians and wildlife in general. This trail has a good mix of terrain and surroundings, it's hard to get bored on this trail. It could be marked better as other people noted but it's good enough and if you use your wits you're bound to find your way. I uploaded some of the pics I took. I will definitely be returning to this one!

I’d like to give this trail a 3.5. It was a great trail and a fun adventure but it was REALLY muddy. But we still had a great time! Our dogs did too!

Tucked deep in the Francis Marion National Forest, this primitive trail provides a temporary escape from civilized life. If you're looking for a way to hit the "reset button" this is your trail!

Meh. Not that fun. Flat, didn’t see any wildlife. Wouldn’t recommend going in late December.

This is my first trail I walked. It was nice and quiet. I saw a couple of birds and a few wild boar. It had not rained enough to prevent me from walking the loop. There are a couple of down trees laying across the trail, but nothing to hinder my pace. There are a lot of roots above ground and I would not recommend a bike or baby strollers. Some areas are a little over grown and will need trimmed back in spring (perfect place for snakes to hide). Would definitely recommend it for beginners. I really enjoyed it.

The trail is pretty straight, this time of year there are little to no bugs and tree coverage keeps you pretty cool. I didn't realize how popular this trail was for bicyclists and only saw one other hiker to the numerous bikers. I probably won't be hiking this trail again because of how narrow it is and the fact it's primarily used for those with two wheels.

Easy, short hike — it’s an especially fun trail run. It being such a short hike is its only drawback. When there’s been a lot of rain, it can be impassable in parts.

Great trail along the inter coastal water way. With several outlooks to the water along the way. We had children starting at 5 and adults age 65 in our group that went and it was a perfect hike!

I have hiked this 18 mile section multiple times and really enjoy it. We started in the afternoon, camped overnight on the trail, and finished the remaining distance the next morning. If you camp, you’ll likely hear lots of wildlife around you. Great experience!

Cool place. Print the trail guide before you go, it's much more fun this way. I would say, the trail is for quest lovers as you have to almost solve the directions puzzles to stay on the right trail :)

Only went a short distance (7 miles) on the trail. Started off of where is crossed US17 in Monck's Corner, 4 miles from US52. Trail was well marked. Lots of spiders and mosquitoes/gnats everywhere. Bring some deet! There is a nice section through a swampy area which is raised above the surrounded wetland, but most of the trail is flat and somewhat bland. No animals in sight. Tree cover is constant and a great source of shade.

Stumbled upon this trail one day and stopped for a short hike. Didn't finish the entire trail but really enjoyed the easy stroll. Really nice trees and some open areas to stretch out.

Nice hike.

Trail had great sights but we didn't hike on it long. very, very buggy. We couldn't stand still for even a second. We heard a lot of birds but did not have a chance to stop and look for what they were. We only walked up to the split but it was still very cool to see. We basically bathed ourselves in bug spray and still had an issue with the bugs. I would love to go back and hike the full loop when it isn't so buggy. The palms in the swamp we're very cool to see!

Like the previous review, very nice out and back. First time on the bikes for a while and longest on a trail to date. My wife and I rode from Buck Hall CG to the canoe launch and back. Some tough spots but we made it!
