Very quiet and peaceful area just outside of bustling Charleston, SC. This area is a protected wildlife management area and is controlled by S.C. Dept of Natural Resources. Trails are well marked and maintained. Other than the occasional whistle blow from a nearby train or the rumbling jets from an airplane (there's an airport about 15-20 miles away), this area is relaxing and easy to walk. To the lady who said "Would of given a 5 star rating if the boardwalk was open"....it's a protected area that allows the threatened wood stork a place to nest. These birds are highly sensitive to any human presence which is why the boardwalk is closed from Feb-Sept. They literally have a million signs at the beginning of the trail and at the entrance to the boardwalk stating this. Read them next time.
