It was a nice trail for close to home. Very quiet. We didn’t see anyone, but did see a fawn! I only prefer a trail in the mountains

Good trail for horses. Not too rocky or steep. Very pleasant.

Center line trail starts as southside loop trail, then meets up with center line trail. You then can choose to loop on lizard trail or rock creek trail. If you do the rock creek trail it’s 4.4 miles.

GREAT RIDE!!! Was a beautiful day to ride!! Nice trail for beginners like me. Will be back for sure!!

the trail was very clear and well marked. it was a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun. we connected to the lake Johnson connector trail to bring us back the the main camp road and finished the hike on the Craig trail that follows the main camp road which brought us back to our campsite here. very cool and fun.

You can still see the damage from the 2017 tornado on this trail, but it’s still a good, quick hike.

Muddy in some parts but otherwise very fun!

After 2 days of rain the trail was a mess. We had to put logs in water @ mud to cross certain sections. Would only do it in dryer conditions

Fun walk through the woods descending down towards the area river. A downed tree or two but overall the trail was in good shape. For those with comments on this trail not being 1.6miles but actually longer that is totally not the case. I checked with several apps and GPS. This is exactly 1.6 miles if you follow the same route posted. Great trail taking past some ruins of a mill and an old bridge over the river. Several spots to stop and rest at benches along the way with a couple by the river. One decent location for a dog to get in the water as well. Great short hike.

We recorded this at 2.4 miles rather than 1.5. It's a well-maintained trail that runs along Fairforest Creek for a while, but it gets pretty narrow in places. It's called the Nature Trail because there are signs describing the trees there. There are a few steep climbs and descents, at least for this fat, old man. A state Department of Natural Resources rifle range is very close by. We went on a Saturday and heard so much gunfire it sounded like we were hiking through a war.

Beautiful and you can see an Eagle’s nest .

Great trail with climbs and descents that can be challenging.

very good warm up trail

Peaceful stroll in the woods. Trail gets a little overgrown at places, especially near the old mill site but beautiful easy hike. We even saw a big black snake catching some rays near the river.

This trail is NOT 1.5 miles. According to my tracker it was 3 miles. The trail is generally clear; there was an area that had tall grass that was has tall as my 3 year old nephew but that was it. There were a ton of spiderwebs so have a stick ready to knock them down. The trail follows the water quite a bit which was nice. We also came across a large deer. Overall this trail was not too hard and had some diversity in the scenery.

Great, challenging loop that leads to the lake! The best part was hiking in the woods then coming over the hill to find the beautiful lake with the hills. Wonderful way to end the round out the hike.

If you like a straightforward hike with little distractions this is for you. It was very rainy and the trail stayed fairly dry and was easy to follow. Other than a quick lake view and a quick stream view - not much to see.

Pretty good mix of terrain for Mt biking.

We drove over here from Rock Hill for a change of scenery. It was an unusually cool day for July with low humidity. The hike was very nice even without the break in weather. Note that this is Palmetto Trail until you take a hard right onto the Lake Johnson Fairforest Creek Connector Trail (there is a signage and a picnic table there). We took that trail down to the creek where there was a beautiful picnic spot. We turned around there. It was 6+ miles. All in it took us 3.5 hours. A lovely day.

The trail was clear and takes you past a view of the river. I went with my daughter and it was an easy hike

We were the only two cars in the parking lot when we arrived at 9am on a Saturday morning. Looking for a trail head the first one we found said Palmetto trail but the only Palmetto trail marked on the park map is way on the other side of the park? Since we didn't want to start off in the wrong place, we decided to continue down the street a little and found the Fairforest Creek trail. We followed it down to the bridge which takes you over to the Southside Trail System. There's a sign at the bridge warning you that it is the only crossing and that the trail system beyond is extensive, to get a map at the park office if you are unfamiliar with it. We followed the Southside Loop Trail clockwise and found it to be pretty well marked. I'd call it an easy to moderate trail (though it did get quite slippery in some place with snow still melting!) We startled a large herd of dear, must have been at least 10, just behind the shooting range of all places but saw only smaller critters after that. On the first half of our hike we didn't encounter anyone and then it did get a little busier (in all we probably ran into 20-25 people, mostly on mountain bikes.) By the time we got back to the parking lot it was packed.

We just 3 miles into the trail and back. Nice trail. Well marked. We were pleasantly surprised with a picnic table at 2.9 Miles in.

Very well signed trail. A little muddy in spots on the day we chose to go, but other than that we enjoyed it.

Croft state park is a really nice place for last minute hiking trips. Foster Mill Loop is good for trail runners it's rated as moderate but I think it should be dragged down to easy. No good views at all until you get to the side of the lake early in the morning at sunrise or late afternoon at sunset.

Be mindful the map at the park says the trail is around 9.6 miles. A little longer, but still a nice hike. Lots of shade and mostly flat ground.

It was a very difficult trail for running. There are roots, Stones and horse apples :-) on the trail. I´ve seen some roe and deers. This trail is nothing for People without Training/ practise. It was very funny to run this trail.
