Mostly flooded when I went. Boardwalk and camping area were clear. Beautifully maintained.

easy trail, great for kids

Nice trail.part of the loop is flooded out. Very unique scenery.

Fantastic trail. Always take the in laws here with the kids. It’s a great loop.

Glad to have gotten here before the bug season so to speak. Definitely be prepared for obvious swamp like conditions after rain.

Great trail. Excellent if you like to relax in a hammock you can find a really nice spot along the Cedar Creek bank.

Easy trail, good walk. Go early in the year to beat the bugs. It is a swamp, so be prepared for mud if it has rained recently.

This is a great trail that winds through some unfamiliar swampland. Extensive storm damage with fallen trees causes quite a few diversions from the "normal" route, but trail markers are frequent and updated making it difficult to get lost. It gets a little buggy near the river, so wear bug spray, but the views are beautiful. Dog friendly, and easy to run so long as you don't mind hopping a few downed trees.

Quick, easy trail. Peaceful!

Pretty cool for birding. Would like to come back in the summer to see if we could find Otters in the back.

Great trail for an easy family hike. Marked all the way along so you can’t get lost. Fun day!

I hiked this with another girl (both above average fitness, average hiking experience). Despite very little elevation change, the trail goes through varied terrains that make for a beautiful hike. It was not overwhelmingly buggy, but we were glad to have bug spray. There's a marked trail down to the sandbar that made for a great lunch spot. Although the trail measures 10 miles, both of our trackers measured 13 miles--which could be due to the number of trail diversions required to get around fallen trees or pick back up on the trial when the markers weren't clear. With a few exceptions, it was well marked. It took about 6 hours (including our break on the beach), which was longer than the 4 hours we predicted. Overall, it's a great day hike and worth the time.

Simple boardwalk loop. Congaree is nice for a swampy area, (not my favorite scenery) but it had its unique beauties. As of 8/27, there are lots of banana spiders and other little spiders.

It's a nice walk but hardly a hike. Great for little kids, very nice boardwalk.

Nice, bring bug spray! Very easy trail but lots of downed trees in trail path.

Really beautiful

With the river flooded this trail was one of the only options. It offered an easy stroll along the boardwalk. Ideal for birdwatching and observing the swamp ecosystem. Not very challenging but peaceful all the same.

Hiked trail mid July, 2016 prompted by the inclusion of the Kingsnake trail in Backpacker: National Parks Coast to Coast 100 Best Hikes book by Ted Alvarez. It is listed at 11.7 miles by nps which may include the connectors (e.g. Boardwalk loop trail, etc.) if starting at the visitor center. It is an out and back with a pit toilet at the turnaround.

The trail itself not well trafficked or maintained; not well marked. The large spider webs, some with multiple large spiders in them, crossed the trail, which required us to wave a pole in front of us nearly the entire way out to avoid being covered in webs. Happy it was an out and back so didn't have to do that on the way back (except when trail finding).

Scenery was gorgeous for the most part. Numerous birds, feral hogs, several snakes (1 rattlesnake). No problem with mosquitoes that day.

Overall, I would not do this hike again--at least in July because of the hundreds of spiders with webs blocking the trail. This trail could use some TLC.

I hiked this trail recently with two friends. Back packed to the river sand bar and set up camp and hiked back in the morning. Trail is well marked. There are many obstacles such as big trees in the pathway and mud holes.

Really cool boardwalk component. A flat, green, bird haven.

Nice walk. Definitely stop at sandbar for a rest!

Good but the trails need work

We took our daughters (5 and 8) along for this hike. My husband measured it at 4.4 miles exactly (as the NP itself states). This was a nice hike along a well-worn, well-marked trail. We went the last weekend in February and saw hundreds of birds along the trail... especially in portions which bordered Cedar Creek. Robins, cardinals, and more! This was a great hike! The length is just perfect for medium-sized kiddos who want to explore the great outdoors. Take sunscreen, bug spray, and plenty of water! Snacks are a must too!

Trail seemed to have seen better days and hasn't been very maintained in a long while since the hurricane. Very large fallen trees make it difficult to navigate. Found myself paused and searching for trail markers to get back on the trail. Almost impossible to get to Oakridge from Kingsnake unless you know the trail really well. Difficult for my dog with lots of thorn branches covering the trail.

Other than all the cons, still a beautiful trail and very out of the way of disturbances. Little to no elevation changes and lots of different angles views of the swamp.
