Very enjoyable hike. On the easier side of moderate. Well maintained and marked with some very nice Chester County views

Nice mix of open fields and woodland. Not too hilly and very muddy in some places on a cloudy/rainy day.

The most beautiful piece of Chester County farm land you can imagine. Magical.

Well marked with lots of scenery. Depending on time of year the leg to the bird sanctuary may be closed.

What a gem! Loved the cross country feel of this run and the scenery is pristine!

best on cooler days as only small sections are tree covered.

Getting my fat butt in shape.

Red trail..

nice little walk. took about 1.5 hours.
through fields and a little through woods.
not bad views over fields.
well marked red trail.
parking enough for about 20 or so cars.

Great scenic route..Obviously would be better in spring/summer

Nice place. What a great use for a large retired farm.

Such a beautiful trail!!! Went in the morning during the sun rise and it was incredible.

One of my favorite places in West Chester. Pretty busy on Sundays but the rest of the week is not bad. Multiple trails that you can use and intersect.

A wonderful variety of scenery, like a microcosm of all that the Brandywine area has to offer.

Trail runners should especially enjoy Stroud, because its terrain is not too rocky and the portions that are stone-laden are rather easy to navigate without much trouble.

This trail is admittedly one of the busier destinations that I frequent, but I don't feel that it's "congested" in any way. Although the parking lot may be rather full, if you stick to the red trail, you will only occasionally pass a fellow hiker/runner.

Besides the red trail, which essentially follows the border of the preserve, there are a couple other trails that cut through the preserve and are perhaps a better option for those with small children, or those that just want a stroll.

This is a well-maintained preserve and I highly recommend it for hikers/runners and even people that want a scenic area to take pictures or do some plein air painting.

Absolutely beautiful. I ran the red trail this morning and I was surrounded by beautiful butterflies throughout the run. Trails are easy to follow. It was so peaceful. I could spend every morning here.

Walked the Red Trail and loved it. So peaceful and beautiful. A nice mix of gravel road, grass paths, dirt paths through the woods, corn fields and hay fields. If I lived closer, I would do this once a week for a nice relaxing walk.

Most of the red trail indicates NO dogs. There is no complete loop that allows dogs. Part of each trail allows dogs but they are in and out walks.

Returned to hike here after a number of years. Has expanded and become a real gem. Great variety of birds and other wildlife. Landscape also varied with open fields, forests, hills, flat terrain, and the Brandywine creek. Includes some of Chester County's most beautiful scenery. Dogs allowed but must be leashed.

Beautiful rolling fields, marshlands in the beginning, and some forested walking areas. varying terrain with some hills on the red trail, and relatively flat on the green and yellow trails. No bathroom, so make sure you take care of that before you arrive. the longest loop is 4.3ish miles...which is really nice. A few places where the trail divides are not marked clearly, leavubg you guessing, but it is impossible to get lost as all of the trail seem to be loops and eventually take you back to your starting point.

YOU CANNOT MOUNTAIN BIKE AT THIS LOCATION. Some trails are restricted to dogs as well.

Lovely trail, missed the red trail mark about 1/2 way through but found other interesting trails. the preserve itself is beautiful, worth a visit. A few hills to climb. Well maintained.
A quick dip in the river at the end was the best!

Well maintained trail for trail running or a nice walk. A fair amount of the trail is in open meadows and grass paths, with direct sunlight. Be sure to bring water and sunscreen on a nice summer day. Very well marked, which is a rarity around here!

Great trail! Lots of variety, but a lot of open space, so maybe not ideal on a hot day. Our dog loved it too. Will definitely go back!

Beautiful trail....loved it...

I enjoyed this trail with my 2 year old son, husband and our dog. I'm also 8 months pregnant so it was ideal. Great views, not very wooded but lots of rolling hills and well maintained paths. We will probably try the red trail next time for a change.

Great hike on red trail. Nice diversity between wools and open fields.

Sunday, November 01, 2015

My kids and I had a good time and the scenery was nice with its farms and grasslands. However, most of this trail is on gravel, which I don't like very much. This trail is better for a runner than a hiker. I will come back to try the red trail which seems to be deeper in the forest.
