This is NOT an easy bike trail. Pretty level but also rocky. Watch the rain levels prior to going as I’m sure it floods. Well kept by parks commission. We also did not take the “loop”. Where the trail map said to loop, it looked like too much of an incline for us. We went straight back 8 miles from the parking area with no end in sight.

Great ride on our Kona's. We started at the Cold Spring Road parking area. Be prepared for a climb to the trail! Really neat to see the old foundations of the resort. Occasional issues with larger rocks that are on the trail to prevent washouts and some gravel at times grabbing our tires. The beaver lodge and lake are really spectacular to see. Somewhat busy with hikers around this area. All in all, not a bad ride.

super easy trail. went down by the water and hiked along the creek for a bit. it's beautiful and was quiet

This is a great trail to get out for a nice walk. Certainly easy & suitable for children, bikes & pets. It’s easy to step off the road & walk along the creek which is both peaceful & beautiful. When driving to the trail, the road ends in a loop. Keep going straight ahead on the dirt road. Be mindful of the many potholes. Keep going until reach the gate. You will pass Rattle Trail. Parking is at the gate. On a Friday morning few people were out. I imagine it is crowded on weekends.

I lived this trail! There’s an incline so you get a good workout but it’s not so steep as to be discouraging. Well maintained path with stepping stones through the muddy sections. Cute little stream near the start if you want to let your puppers splash around. A few geocaches new the first section. I took the trail to the right/East and only went as far as the switchback because my dog is recovering from an injury. Beautiful trail. Definitely want to come back again. There were 5-10 cars in the lot when I started and finished.

This is a pretty challenging trail that has two different elevation climbs, no matter which direction you walk. Very little traffic which was nice. The trail went back and forth between a regular trail and rock steps in some parts. A different time of year would have yielded better views.

Nice walk on a flat gravel road so it’s easy to enjoy the nice scenery around you. There’s a spot about 1/2 mile along where you can go down and sit next to the really lovely creek. There are a handful of relatively easy geocaches along the trail if you’re into that sort of thing. There would be plenty of shade from the tall trees in the summer.

You can stay on the road for an easy hike or drop down 150’ and hike along the river, clear cold and refreshing. The off-trail hike along the river is moderate and rewarding, plenty of spots to sit and take it all in.

The first part is very steep, but a good climb on a gravel service road. The bike side is still service road but more grass and small trees down (nothing impassable only once I had to dismount to get over a tree.) if you want more of a loop continue up the dirt road to the Stony Creek Rail Trail parking. Also, it should be noted that from the rail trail a sign notes it as Rattle Run trail but from the road that dictated as Rattle Run Road.

This trail is very well marked, but NOT a loop. It is in and back. So you hike up each side of the mountain and down each side. Hiking boots are recommend since it is very rocky and you dont want to twist and ankle. There are not many other people on the trail. I only saw 2 when I was there on a beautiful weekend.

I didn’t hike the whole trail due to time constraints but I would recommend this trail, I would like to come back and do the whole thing. It is very clearly marked the whole time. The elevation is steady but it makes for a good workout. Due to the leaves on the ground and the recent rain it was a little slippery on the way down but nothing ridiculous just be mindful of it. It also connects to the whitetail trail which I hiked for a bit.

Didnt do the whole trail, obviously by my recording, but enjoyed the workout we got from the mile we did up to the ridge. Trail was marked clearly and had no issues following the signs! Great spot for a quick hike or to do the longer trail!
