If you follow the GPS from this app, the trail will come off the parking lot on the side of the stream and will be marked with orange blazes starting across the creek. At the top of the mountain there is a small clearing with an old spring and rusted out bike. At this point you will start following the blue blazes which will bring you down the mountain, past the sand springs and back to the parking lot. The trail is well marked throughout, other than the lack of trail head marker. There are definitely steep portions, a few sections blocked by downed trees but manageable with detours, and portions where you will be walking on large slick rocks for extended periods of time. Wear good hiking shoes especially if it has rained recently as sections will be underwater and slippery. There are several stream crossings as well, so plan accordingly. The bugs were terrible when I was there and even with spray they were flying in my eyes, nose and mouth. I attribute this to the wet weather, but if you go soon, consider yourself warned lol. I didn’t pass a single hiker on my trip which is awesome!
