Nice afternoon hike if you're not looking to get too serious but need some outdoor time. Nice overlook of State College!

Maybe our favorite in the area. Once you get up the initial steep incline to the top, there are two main options to walk around the mountain, both offering access to great views. Scenic though more traffic than other trails in the area.

Great views, took my four kids, youngest 6. little climb at the beginning, the rest was a nice hike along the peak.

Nice hike. Suggest you start by going to the end of the parking lot and up the hill. That lets you return on the creekside part of the trail. There are a few trail intersections that show on the map, but I didn't see at all. When you get to the top of the hill, follow the gravel road to the right toward the water tower. That open part of the trail seems to be on the flight path for SCE, but with only a handful of flights each day, it's no big deal. Actually kind of cool to see a jet fly by.

Nice casual stroll down a wide gravel road next to a wide river. This spot is particularly convenient for a short outing in inclement weather.

great hike. nice loop for novices. there is one section that would be a little steep for some people, but the gravel trail is wide at that point and easy to navigate.

beware. we've seen porcupines on 2 separate occasions (much to the dismay of my friend's unleashed dog). they won't go after hikers, but will use their quills when cornered.

Ok hike I took the white trail up (the only hard part of the hike) then walked along the trail to station 10 where I switched to the blue trail and walked around the rim coming back again to the white trail by station 3. The hike after summiting at Station 2 was relatively easy and not very scenic. Only a couple of the overlooks gave good unobstructed views.

My son and I did six miles in this area and it is beautiful! The trails is easy and fun for the whole family, bring plenty of water.

This was a really nice stroll that began along the river and led us back to the parking lot. There were just a few areas where the trail could have been marked better, causing three wrong turns that were fixed by referencing this map. There was slight elevation gain almost half way where the trail moved away from the stream. This area was very buggy and I wish we had worn mosquito repellant! We were lucky to witness two descending planes fly directly above us while in the open field near a water-vessel-like tower. The last .5 miles was all downhill.

Lots of rocks and roots to navigate around. Would have been a great hike due to all the overlooks, but not ideal for trail running. Quite a few down trees, as well. Watch your step!

Hiking right next to river. Love it

Dont come early may if you like seeing leaves on trees. I hiked the blue trail. The views are alright, but mostly shrouded by trees. The trailhead is moderately steep, like your grandma couldnt do it, but your mom probably could. Relative to the Appalacian, this was kinda boring, but to a infrequent hiker, i’d give them a go ahead on this trail.

Great hike the long way around.

Great loop trail if you do both the Blue and White trail. Mt. Nittany has awesome top mountain views from different angles/ directions of the trails. This is one of my favorite trails as it is lengthy and provides different gradations of trail paths and challenges. It was super fun to take on with our two little girls (6 and 10 yrs. old). They were definitely, "Bawses!" Remember to pack protein power snacks and water for your little Bawses as both trails can take about 3 hours to complete.

Okay quick day trip. But there are better trails in the surrounding area with more nature views.

Tough trail.....good workout

Views are okay for the little elevation gain. Rocky but not too bad. Not difficult, but is fairly busy.

Fit this into a drive to DC in late August. Very well marked trails, challenging incline for first half mile then easy loop, can adjust route for available time, I'd park further away to build in a little warm-up/down if squeezing into a long drive again.

Very steep, entire view of state college at the top.

Nice hike - takes about 1.5-2hr to complete the full loop. The initial ascent is steep and rocky, especially if you keep left on the blue trail at the initial fork. Views are good though - during the summer, many of them are hard to appreciate because of the vegetation. But worth it.

Views were really great but you have to earn them in the beginning.
