This is a mountain bike trail. Ok for a trail run but pretty rough on the ankles.

We were passed by two trail runners and I thought,'This must be easy.' I was surprised by the nice elevation changes. It wasn't easy, it wasn't hard. Good things in moderation. There are rental bivouac shelters, a fall hike in and over night with the family will be fun.

A family centric trail. Nicely paved and generally flat wooded joy ride. Plan a picnic and bring the bicycles. There is a beach and boat rental. There is something for everyone.

Dima had a great time on this woodlands trail! We will definitely be back when we have more time to explore!

Starts at the parking lot loops around into some dense forest The trail is in good shape until the downhill side of it have some good hiking boots as the downhill part of the trail will be muddy and washed out other than that beautiful scenery a nice morning hike

Nice walk, took Both the short and Long loop. Highway noise is a bit of a bummer.

Poorly marked in some places, which led us far astray on two separate instances. (Pay particular attention to make sure you stay on the trail when it looks as if it crosses the road and when it leaves the oil rig.) Also, it had some significant blockages. Nothing that we couldn't scurry over, but it was definitely not a "clear trail". Finally, it had no scenic component--we thought it would include pretty views of the lake, but they never materialized. We set out to find a long, hard hike and the Wyggeston Trail definitely delivered on that ask and we were CERTAINLY alone and isolated on our walk, but if we had another afternoon to do it again, I'd look for something different.

Nice, easy hike. Saw a ton of butterflies!

Buggiest trail I've been on in a long time. No standing water, so where the gnat-like bugs came from is a mystery. Would be a great mountain bike trail; bugs couldn't catch you. This would be a wonderful trail in the fall, or spring.

I accidentally took the short loop which was only about 1.5 miles. It ended up being a blessing in disguise as there were so many bugs on this hot and humid July morning. Save this one for the fall and spring. The lake is pretty.

Easy, well marked trail. Only downside for me is that there’s nothing really to see.. it’s a loop through the woods there isn’t a destination/water feature/view to see. Great for a quick walk with the dogs.

The trail was overgrown and had fallen trees across it making it difficult to maneuver along the trail. Also there are very few trail markers so it's hard to tell if you are going the correct direction. I will not be hiking this trail again.

Took a mix of the short and long loop on accident, it can be a bit complicated if you aren’t using a map or the app. All in all there’s some nice hills, a bit of wildlife, nice mix between mud grass rocks and a few little bridges as well. Nice scenic views of Lake Arthur especially the bit that is basically right on the shore. Seems like a good place for a dog walk or for a family hike too.

The trail is marked well with green paint— know you are on the short loop when you see these (the other signs are a bit twisted around and confusing).

This trail actually called “pleasant valley trail” and marked with blue paint markers along the way. On a weekday there weren’t many other hikers. I’d be sure to keep a phone with reception on you if hiking alone.

Very muddy. Lots of down trees and parts where brush blocked path. Well marked.

Good trail appropriately classified as moderate with elevation changes. It is a long trail through the woods where you rarely cross any roads or see civilization. However, it is pretty well marked with several escape routes before the end if you want to cut it short and you are never far from the park roads.

I hike this regularly as I live only an hour away and it does not get old since you can alter it a bit each time. On this particular time I did 7 miles out and looped back to the paved walk way at the marina which I took back to car for a total of 14 miles.

I rarely see people on this trail so it is a nice getaway.

This was one of the best hikes that we had all year long. First I must say The trail was well maintained really good ground to walk on
On our journey we seen deer and birds wild flowers and trees that lead us along a grassy path down to lake Arthur where you can view the beach and boat launch as the path loops around and back up to the parking area.
Well worth your time to hike it.

If you prefer a flat trail, this is for you! Will I be back? Of course. Is it a challenging trail? Not at all. This trail is lovely. You will feel as though you're walking along a flower garden. You will also walk along the lake.

If you're taking small children on a walk, you will love this. If you're unsure about beginning a hike due to your physical limitations - give this a try. Whatever you do - just get outside!

Nice paved trail, good for biking, mostly flat, but beware. The ticks are absolutely unreal. Took my pup and pulled 50+ off her ( with zeresto collar). Fortunately, I didn't have any on me. But, I've never seen them that bad anywhere. I stay to McConnell's Mills ( nearby) never have had a problem there ( plus there's a lot more to see).

There's a few blowdowns in the beginning but nothing that you can't navigate around. I had my 1.5 year old with me so we stopped rather than heading out towards the loop closer to the lake.

If we do it again I'd recommend skipping the beginning where the marked trailhead is at and parking closer the lake by the park office. This eliminates the first .7 mile part which is basically a walk through grass a wide wooded path which would allow you to start right at a big rock which is where it actually becomes a trail and is marked.

Fun little jaunt, swampy in areas, but easily navigated. scenic area with bench for little ones to rest and a great view at about the half way point.
