A nice walk along the river with a damn waterfall halfway through. Some parts you have to step over roots/trees but for the most part it’s fairly flat. The end section is anticlimactic, you hit a road and then turn around, but the way there is very pleasant.

Nice falls. Quite heavily frequented even during wintery weather conditions. There is no loop next to the falls (except maybe if you feel like climbing on the rocks). It definitely is an in and out trail.

Extremely beautiful trail with peaceful views and running water sound. A must do if in the area!

The falls are beautiful and a must see if near the area, trail is easy enough to follow and this hike can be done in under 30 mins. Not so good, lots of college aged kids screaming, blocking the trail and drinking beer. Pretty sure this is a common occurrence as the falls smelled heavily like beer, its unfortunate people cant respect the environment.

Boulder field is a really interesting geological anonymity that I highly recommend you check out if you havent yet. Couple of reason for the lower rating though, 1. there is a gravel road that leads right up to boulder field, so its pretty guaranteed that the field will be packed on any given nice weather day, and that results in there being higher than usual trash and even some graffiti on the rocks. 2. Its really close to a highway so theres high traffic noise for most of the hike. Again I highly recommend you check it out but after doing it twice myself I doubt ill be returning.

Beautiful trail along the creek. We enjoyed the beautiful sight of the nature and pleasant sounds from the creek. Tree roots and rocks made it a bit challenging because we had to watch our steps quite often. At the end of the trail is the dam, picnic tables, and a nice playground.

Family friendly short and shaded trail. The first hiking experience for my 4 year old child. He was excited and was able to complete the whole trail without getting a piggyback.

We went with a group that all had different skill levels. The rocks and tree roots made it more difficult for a person with a mild ankle injury but we went slow. Toward the end, there was a fresh downed tree so we didn't complete the last .2 miles. Beautiful, fun trail. There were several groups of people but it never felt crowded. Like another reviewer wrote, it feels like being in another country.

Nice easy hike. 2 waterfalls about a quarter mile opposite each other from the parking area. Walk along the Lehigh Gorge River for a very.leisurely walk. Grandkids loved playing at the bottom of Buttermilk Falls. Gets busy on weekends with bikers coming down from White Haven during the summer. We go about once a month even during the winter and see something different evrrytime.

Beautiful waterfalls and easy hiking. Would be nice to see the rhododendron in bloom or the leaves changing. Will plan accordingly next time.

Heavily used small trail. Popular with families. More of an out and back then a loop. Scenic, though crowed waterfall. Small climb by bottom of waterfall.

Very cool topography at the boulder field.

A simple walk through nature. ♥️ time to think. ;)

Fun walk along the creek. Some areas are difficult due to fallen trees, rocks, and water. Make sure to wear waterproof shoes.

Super muddy and lots of standing water on Saturday afternoon! Not crowded, really easy (but long) walk, beautiful landscape and greenery.

Nice short trail. Well shaded. Virtually my own private haven. I literally saw 2 other people on the trail (which is precisely the reason why I went the week AFTER Labor Day)

This trail is lovely, well marked, crossing over streams and through rhododendron groves that create magical little tunnels and hideaways. I hiked this on a cool late September day and enjoyed soaking my feet in the stream, would love to do it again in the summer to fully enjoy the cold water. At the end of the trail you meet the train tracks above the Lehigh River, and can turn around and hike back the way you came. I chose to take the Pine Hill trail to the Blue trail as an alternate route back... I do not recommend this unless you are up for an adventure. It was a continuous steep uphill march for the first 2 miles, on a trail that was little more than a deer path through grasses and ferns and so poorly marked that I lost it several times when the terrain became rocky and more forested. The downhill turn onto the Blue trail seemed like a relief, until it became apparent that a natural spring surfaced in the middle of the trail, turning it into 6 inches of muddy running water with thick brambles to either side, making finding a drier route impossible. In total my loop was 7.2 miles, 735 ft elevation change. I enjoyed it, but if you aren't looking for a bit of an uncomfortable journey, make your trip and out and back on the Sand Spring trail instead!

Did this trail with a 5 year old. He hiked most of it and backpacked a bit. Without him, this trail definitely would be easy. That being said we clocked 7.3 miles, not 6. Just be aware that number is low. Also, from all the rain, a lot of the trail was marsh and even some active creek.

This trail is great for families to hike together and practice safety since is easy but it has some challenges. You can get prepared together so you'll ready when taking those moderate and hard trails out there. Hooyah!!!

Great short hike. Rhododendrons are lovely and the falls, while not huge, are very attractive. Fun bouldering opportunities for kids.

The trail is tougher then it sounded, then again I’m only 6 months out of ACL reconstruction. The first mile is the Hawk Falls trail, that was fantastic. Once you leave and enter to the Orchard trail there’s not a lot to see and all you hear is the PA Turnpike’s Northeast Extension.

Nice shaded trail. Very crowded on Sunday of Labor Day weekend to the point I didn’t enjoy - but drove by the trail head on my way out and it was very quiet. So I would imagine it being perfect with light to even moderate traffic. The trail is a little slippery but manageable. The waterfall is a great reward for such a short hike and with the littles ones it was a perfect break spot before returning.

Was pretty. Loved the water sounds. Gotta watch the roots when walking.

Excellent out and back trail run. Just enough elevation change and water to keep it interesting.
