Explore the most popular trails in Evansburg State Park with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers and nature lovers like you.

Evansburg State Park is in southcentral Montgomery County between Norristown and Collegeville. Evansburg offers a significant area of green space and relative solitude in an urbanized area. Its main natural feature, the Skippack Creek, has dissected the land into ridges and valleys that create feelings of enclosures and provide scenic views. The narrow valley was first settled and farmed by Mennonites who also powered their industries with the water of the Skippack. Even now, mill remnants, mill buildings and houses from the eighteenth and nineteenth century dot the park landscape and serve as reminders of early American life. Today, the park is a quiltwork of cropland, meadows, old fields and mature woodlands that attracts day use visitors from the Montgomery County and Philadelphia areas. People come to the open play fields, picnic areas, trails, golf course and the relatively tranquil, natural environs.

Awesome, well-marked trail. Did this as a family of 4, a 2 and 4 year old. Definitely recommend.

Pretty cool hike but not too much to see. Lots of horse poop to avoid on the trail, but cool trees and different sections of forest

Nice hike. Reasonable distance, with just enough incline to make it interesting. Most of the hike is through the woods, so there’s plenty of shade. Part of the trail is not well marked. If you leave from the trailhead by the restrooms and head to the right (sorry, no idea what direction it is), after about .75 of a mile or so you will come out on a road with a bridge immediately to your left. The loop trail goes over the bridge and down the road to the left, maybe half a mile. The trail is marked again on the pavement after the bridge maybe 100 yards so look down. It’s not the horse trail across the street from the bridge.

The mud wasn’t as bad as it’s been in the past. The portions by the power lines are a bit overgrown but passable. There is so much horse manure on the trail though. More than I’ve seen in the past. Be careful where you step.

Beautiful trail, but we took our dog and there were a lot of extremely muddy spots from horses and lots of horse poop. Had to be careful and ended up detouring on a road to get back to our starting point. Also, had a difficult time trying to find the trail once we were in, even with the AllTrails map.

Hiking Review: I wanted to like this trail but I can’t give it more than 2 stars. The first half of this route is unmarked horse trail that has muddy spots abound. The next quarter is nice part of actually hiking trails in the park. Then back less muddy horse trails. And the last bit is along Germantown Pike and Skippack Creek Road which have no shoulder. I opted to cross the creek only because it’s summer and I had a change of shoes in the car. Pretty much zero marking throughout other than on the actual hiking trail. Whoever laid out this route in All Trails definitely just said “screw it” and went in some spots were there were no defined path. Probably a pretty solid horse trail but wouldn’t recommend at all for hiking.

A nice trail for a quick evening hike. Could be marked better but it's a hike so just enjoy figuring it out.

A lot of muddy portions of trail but manageable to avoid. Saw a few people with their dogs - great - but there was quite a bit of glass on the trail so be aware. Bathrooms at start/finish. Marked well for about 90% of trail. One portion that I had trouble with.

Good over all trail for a quick hike. A little muddy in spots and some road walking, but very pleasant.

Our family really enjoyed this hike.

Very muddy trek but to be expected considering the recent heavy rains. Required to walk over a creek and got feet wet. Overall a fun journey with mixed terrains. Only part I suggest to avoid is Germantown Pike. Very small shoulder which becomes non-existent when crossing the traffic bridge. Very unsafe.

Overall, a great trail. I agree with the other posts about sections not being well marked...you can usually figure it out if you stop and study but it shouldn't be that difficult for a local hike. Will go back with dog and also try jogging it.

the trail as mapped was difficult to follow. the trail just at the back of the parking area was much clearer and easier. I would like to explore here again, but not by myself.

The trail is great for the area it's in, but the northern half of the loop is shared by a horse back riding trail and is not well marked. The horse traffic makes the trail very muddy, covered in poop, and a little difficult to navigate if you're wearing running shoes. The dog loved it. She got to roll in mud and swim in the creek. Deffinitley going to do this again with proper footwear.

Easy to follow for the most part. Yellow trail markers were sporadic at some point making it a little hard to follow

unfortunately the northern river crossing is without a bridge and the water was running strong. aside from that, it is a gentle hike along the river. quite peaceful.

lots of rain recently. muddier than usual and more water pooled where it is typically wet.
