The falls are flowing nicely! Lots of shade on the trail. I went on a Friday morning and I only saw a few other hikers.

We did it backwards like the few before us so we could hit the falls at the end. Highly worth it though the first half mile was a steep climb. Would do it this was again!

HikingGreat!

Great trail with not a stressful incline. Tip: Of you don’t want to be around people or bees, go early during the week!

Solid hike, different topographies and a few scrambles. Bit of traffic noise for a while, and watch out for wasps on the way up!

Arrived 8am on a Sunday to a 90% full parking lot. Great trail more of an easy/ moderate. Go early = no bees. That morning it was cloudy/ foggy so we had limited views up at the top. it was great to hike amongst the rolling cloud like fog.

We took this hike counter clockwise, starting with the cliffs and ending with the falls for swimming. The trail start for the hike was a bit difficult to find, but that first uphill climb was the hardest push, and it was an easy hike from there! Jumping in the waterfall pool was a wonderful break from the heat, and a lovely place to eat lunch, and not too crowded on a Tuesday afternoon.

Nice, moderate, walkable incline makes for a good workout without much fuss. Views were nice across the river of Mt Tammany. SO crowded, which was the biggest draw back for me. Would make for a good evening / sunset hike looking west over the river.

I began this trail counter clockwise which I think was more difficult, but better because the falls were the reward at the end. The first 1/2 mile was extremely narrow and overgrown, and I walked through at LEAST a hundred spider webs. I picked up a stick and waved it in front of me like a crazy person to avoid walking into more (it only helped a little). This trail was beautiful and peaceful, and there was an awesome view at the beginning. The waterfall was also amazing. State troopers were there when I got there, giving citations out to people jumping into the pool from the cliff above. I was glad, though, because I got some really good pictures that would've instead been filled with swimmers. When I got home, I found the trail on Instagram, and apparently there's another bigger waterfall that I didn't even know was here that I missed out on. I'll have to come back and find that one. Bring bug spray and carry a stick!

Hike begins and ends at Buttermilk Falls, due to COVID access road to parking lot is closed. You need to park your car close to the bridge to avoid parking ticket but it is close to 1.4 mile to the trail head which is Buttermilk Falls. The waterfall is beautiful, make sure to plan your trip 2 days rainfall for nice view of water falls. First one mile is very steep with loose gravel and rocks. Once you reach the t-junction (wood trail) you have option to continue on Blue trail (left) or Yellow trail (right). Blue trail is very steep 0.4 mile hike with lot of rock climbing and then 0.9 mile to Hemlock pond trail. From there you can follow the trail loop around the lake. Yellow trail is gradual increase in the beginning and at the end it is bit steep increase in elevation and rocky path. This path is approx 1.6 mile to Hemlock pond trail. We decided to take the Yellow path on the way up and Blue path coming down. It took 2 hours to reach Hemlock pond and after to reach down from around 1 and half hour. Lake is very relaxing, if you are interested you can add Crater lake to the hike which is around 1.1 mile of paved path around lake. We saw couple of rattle snakes on the way up on Blue trail.

The trail was very rocky but had a nice waterfall and amazing views. Also, we saw a black bear on the hike up.
