Trail not marked we would have been lost without GPS.

The trail is simple, but does have many springs/streams which flow both across it and some right down the trail in parts with minimal rocks/branches to step on and avoid the water/mud. This is mostly during the first half of the trail.

Would only recommend in winter or if just taking a walk up before the trail becomes thin and steep. The bottom part is nice easy wide path, but once the trail starts going up, is really narrow and much more grown in. Deer ticks seem to like to hang around Cove Mountain trails (got them on King Trail and Lincoln Trail). There is nothing to see at the top.

Four stars mostly for the stretch between Aughwick Rd/Tower Rd lot and Cowan's Gap State Park which includes the awesome Big Mountain overlook view. The powerline clearing/hang glider launch area at Tuscarora Summit also gives a great view out over McConnellsburg. Be aware the mileage will be more than displayed on this trail regardless of which part of this stretch you do in this region due to the additional curves and switchbacks on Tuscarora Trial which are not reflected on the rather straight dashed line of the AllTrails map. Least favorite part of this is short segment between where it crosses Aughwick Rd and Tuscarora Summit. Is already very rocky but this part has not been maintained in awhile it seemed. Lots of blowdown, trash from Rt 30, overgrown...and deer ticks.

Did the first 1.2 mi with the family today starting at the parking area on route 16. It was a nice little hike to get the kids out of the house. The trail is well marked with blue blazes and in good condition. Instead of walking along 16 to the trail head, you can hike down the gas line easement to reach the trail, which is a good idea if you have kids with you.

We didn't make it very far on this trail as it was very dense and our pup continually got her leash caught on fallen branches. Adding this to my list of trails that need some work done to open them up. We turned around and walked the ATV trails instead.

Everyone remeber if it says its best later in the season. The reason is because it's overgrown and all that dies later in the year. I have noticed those comments on alot of the later season trails.

the first part of the trail up wasn't bad as far as the trail. at 1.2 miles in you definitely are trekking up hill for a while. the second portion however was completely overgrown. we ended up turning around a mile in. the tree/trail makings became sparce in some areas and I just didn't feel it was safe to continue.

This trail is horribly marked, the beginning ascent is fine but once it crests the top all marking disappear. Not enough traffic to see a real track in many parts. I followed the GPS to stay on the “trail”

This trail was not well marked and quite overgrown. It did not live up to expectations.

The trail starts out nice, but once you cross a small creek and start up a hill, the trail nearly disappears. There are no blazes. There is barely a discernible trail to see. Eventually you top the hill and head down. Though it’s obvious the trail heads down, once you get there, there’s no direct or obvious way to go. Had I not seen the post for the Wasson Spring and the side trail that was next to it, I would have backtracked to Blakey Road. Once I found the spring, finding ten connector to Sweet Root was easy. This trail needs work. Bad. Taking a machete is a great idea.

I was recommended this area by a friend. I decided to attach my recording to this trail since it had no prior reviews or images, even though I was only on it briefly. Referencing my recording, it’s the section between the first and second sharp left turns. Anyways, the section was a moderate descent with an obvious path, but poor footing (definitely minimal traffic) that intersected with the “Gap” Trail after a steep decline. The section before this looked similar to the service road I followed to get to it, and the section after looked to disappear. The loop I ended up completing was easy to follow and well-blazed, but the “Gap” Trail obviously sees minimal traffic as well.

this trail is part of the mid state trail. it follows along a riverbank with lots of amazing moss and different kinds of spiders. It was like a magical fairy land. My favorite hike the season by far! I followed this on to other sections of the mid state trail for a nice full day hike.

Not the most exciting of trails, but a nice little stroll, especially for beginners looking for a little incline. It was a nice spooky late October hike.

Parked at the beginning of the Tower Road and crossed Aughwick to hit Lincoln Trail, then made a right onto Lockard, which was very clear and not rocky. There was a spring in the middle of Lockard where it meets Fore Trail. I took Fore right and climbed the ridge back to Aughwick Road and followed the road back to my car. Very rocky on Fore Trail

This trail can be completed as a loop which totals 3 miles. From the parking lot, pass through the gate at the northeast end of the lot and turn right onto the Mid-State Trail. Follow this decent and cross over Rt 326 to the beginning of the Garlic Trail. At the top of this trail, turn right to follow an old logging road to Blankely Rd (gravel) and turn right. Hike a short distance to scenic vista then turn left and then right to join ATV trail. This section follows the ridge and ends up back at the parking lot. We loved this trail and would hike it again. We saw much wildlife including a wood turtle, an orange salamander, and a wild turkey hen with her six chicks.
