Blue Knob State Park offers year-round wilderness adventures on 6,128 acres of woodland. The park is in the northwestern tip of Bedford County, west of I-99. Altoona, Johnstown and Bedford are within 25 miles of this scenic park. The elevation of the park can cause air temperatures to be several degrees cooler than the surrounding cities. The annual snowfall averages about 12 feet. One of the unique features of the park is the solitude it provides the visitor. There are many opportunities to enjoy the quiet and refreshing serenity of the mountains and streams.

Beautiful trail!

I loved this trail! However, the "Easy" tag it has is misleading. We went a day after a decent rain and the water level was up. Traveling clockwise around the trail from mile .8 to 1.7 was brutal. The runoff was flowing down the trail, which was all rocks at that point. The trail is less than a foot wide, and covered in stinging nettles. When we got down to the waterfall crossing the water was flowing so fast that we chose to cross downstream about 30 yards on a fallen log. My advice to anyone is wear long pants, and use hiking poles, and you'll have a blast! 5 stars!

I wouldn't call this easy. I recommend a walking stick if you've just had rain. Steep portions of the trail can get slick. Stinging nettles.....evil little suckers are everywhere.

We hiked counter clockwise at the loop and when we hit the group camp the trail markers got unclear. We had to turn around to make sure we made it back up in time for fireworks. It was a nice hike otherwise and plan on heading back with more time to spare.

Great trail, wish we would have worn long pants though, stinging nettles are everywhere!

on Rock and Ridge Trail

We walked the trail during light rain, after a harder rain occurred the night before. All that to say, you may run into water flowing across the trail. (Not too much to walk through). We enjoyed the trail and will do it again. The trail could be marked better. They switch between a metal marker to painted blazes.

This is a beautiful trail through which passes through an old homestead, follows Pavia Run to a CCC Group Camping area, traverses the ridge line and then ends back at the Mowery Picnic Area parking lot. Great for kids. After your hike, take a dip at the Blue Knob State Park pool across the road which has free admission.

I went looking for this deep hollow trail today but couldn't find this exact one. BKSP had a lot of trails around the area and a Deep Hollow Run, the river was shown on the map. I even stopped in the park office and they didn't know of the trail. I took the Rock N Ridge trail instead that runs along deep hollow run. nice 3.5 mile hike with some heavy elevation changes. I'm going to keep trying to locate this exact trail I even used gps to take me to the trailhead but still no luck. Not going to give up on this one but there is a lot of trails around the area I plan to hike over the next few weeks.
