Quiet, beautiful trail that ends in a steep switchback up to the peak. Very well marked.

Moderate hike until the switchbacks going up pilot rock. For us it was a 10 mile round trip hike. Took about 4 hours. Like how easy it was to get to PCT trailhead.

Did 05/27/18 I think it’s closer 11.5 miles though.

Beautiful views.

Great trail with awesome views but was a little challenging to navigate with so many trails attaching to the main trail. Parts are very uphill!! Quiet trail, well maintained.

just so you know this is the 2mile trail. the last fork of "road" is not a road, its the actual trail. There is the soda mountain wilderness sign. parking lot, and bathroom.

Definitely rock climbing involved so bring the gear! Amazing views! Very hot in August!

had a wonderful time with my daughters and my husband would definitely do it again we hiked the first week of March and got to hike up to the snow it was lots of fun

did this one twice. take a good car with good tires to get to the head.
poped a tire on my way down.

Did this in the fall. Didn’t do the scramble because I have no rock climbing background. The switchbacks heading up to the rock are pretty steep. Great workout. Peaceful hike.

Good views close from downtown Ashland. Close to Alice in Wonderland trail

Great hike in and out with a lot of nice views and different terrain variations. Also a good distance for a day hike.

Beautiful views and not a ton of people most days. Awesome hike right from Ashland.

The phenomenal view of the Rogue Valley- to the North & Mt. Shasta- to the south, make the hike, well worth it! I consider myself to be in good physical shape and it made me stop for a breath once or twice- definitely a calorie burner and lung expander

There was some nice terrain variations and great views.

I loved this trail! Although the summer may have been a better time, the hike is worth it just for the view!

If you're planning on hiking Pilot Rock, do yourself a favor and take this route. It's much longer and more worthwhile than starting at the PR Trailhead - which is only 2 miles round trip.

This trail will kick your butt. I'd put it on the hard side of moderate. Beautiful though!

Lots of trails to explore. Also connects to other major trails. Pretty steep in some parts!

Must for visiting or living in Ashland. My 8.5 year old accompanied me for this more challenging hike to pilot rock.
Loved every minute of it and saw snow still melting off the mountains.

This was a pretty good leg burner. Fitbit said 5.1 miles. Trail is marked well. Also connects to another big trail system. Park on street if you use Park St. lots of private drives at trailhead and no turn around.

Tough uphill, good viewspots.

Not a bad hike to the rock. Relatively easy scramble to the top (a little girl was doing it). 360 view on a clear day of Shasta, McLaughlin, Ashland, and the region.
