Decent elevation gain but not hard by any means

Don’t use google maps to get you there because it won’t lead you to the correct spot. You will need to drive through a creek with a high clearance 4x4. Besides that it is a great hike worth any amount of hassle to get there. Do yourself a favor and hike the entire trail to the peak. The view will pay you back.

Beautiful. You can also start from Mt Ashland.

Beautiful views

great hike! well worth the distance

roads up to parking area are clear although the lot is full of water.

start the hike with switch backs, level out then ascend a seeming never ending incline. Rest assured once you hit sheeps creek slide it gets easier incline wise. Snow free until wagner glade, ranging from 1 inch to 18 inches of snow in some area. Most of the bootpack is solid but some steps send you post holing. great views at the top. not very rocky

enjoy and sign the log at the top

Sadly we attempted this one today but the road is packed with a few feet of snow so we didn’t have access. We will be back though in a month to see if the snow has melted enough.

first 2.5-3 miles are super boring. just trees. then you hit the ridgelone with amazing views and its good after that. some rocky sections of trail, lots of bugs
absolutely stunning views at top

had trail to myself today

this was a great hike once you get to the top. I would do a day hike again, but not an over night hike. camping is very limited and taking 48 pounds up that incline is brutal for the average hiker like myself. if your an advanced hiker then absolutely do it. The views are amazing.

Total distance was almost 10 miles on the dot. Great views of snowy mountains and Applegate Lake. Uphill all the way up, so I would suggest doing this in cooler weather. Rewarding view at the top.

Great hike. Trail was very easy to follow and was challenging but not too tough. It's a fairly gradual climb and not just a whole bunch of switchbacks. There are a few good views on the way up and the panoramic view from the top is definitely worth it. Took about 4.5 hours total from start to finish including some time at the top for lunch. Minimal snow on the trail (3/26/18), no problem with regular hiking shoes. The gps pin on the app is spot on with parking right by the trailhead. This was probably my favorite hike in Oregon so far. We didn't see any wildlife during our hike but did hear some deep growling fairly close to us that I assume was a bear near the top. Just something to keep in mind.

Beautiful!

Beautiful! Watch for the "Hippo" rock!

Great family hike replete with cave and Bigfoot trap, great ending point at the peak after enjoying lunch and the views! I've hiked this 5 times...each time great...plus the lake is right around the corner for a swim after :)

Strenuous! Great views...we went in August...too hot! I recommend going in Spring or Fall!

This trail is my absolute favorite so far!
give your self plenty of day light tho I made the mistake of going up to late in the day and got stuck up there in the dark it was pretty scary so make sure to bring a flashlight or 2 in case you cut it close. I got turned around pretty bad once it got dark. The trail is pretty steep going up and a narrow path. No cell service, beautiful views, got to see some deer running down the side of the mountain and some pretty wild flowers in the summer, mushrooms, and several good look outs. I would mark this trail down as a must do. the trail head is sneaky I walk it the first couple times. the map on here will lead you to a little parking area you will walk down the road a bit and see the start of the trail with a sighn on your right it is a sharp right tho so be looking behind you if you feel you walked to far down the gravel road you probabky did. turn around you'll see it is almost immediatly on your right after the little parking area where you leave your car. also when you get to the summit there will be a small wooden sighn wiyh a foot trail going up the hill that the trail you are on is walking beside that is also easy to miss and I walked past and ended up at the start of another trail.

One of the best hikes around the Rogue Valley with easy access from Ashland, Talent, Phoenix, and Medford. The drive up is cool, with a great parking area and a distinct sign at the trailhead.
The hike is hard though not the hardest, starting with a long uphill slog that is somewhat intense even if you are in shape. Solitude abounds, the trail is well-marked, and Sheep Creek Slide is awesome. I can't say enough about this hike. Not the hardest hike you can do, but requires a solid amount of effort so be prepared to do a little work.

I wanted to scout this before I took my twin 7 year olds up here - glad I did. They are experienced hikers and the first 2+ miles would have been a bit much for them. Hiked this with my dog on a balmy 60+ degree in mid January. Good hike if you're looking for a nice workout and Don't want to see any other humans. Go mid week.

Fun and short hike. Best in the summer time! So you can play in the falls

Very well maintained, beautiful trail. Great view from the summit though metal pipes (to prevent people from falling?) were kind of distracting. Snow patches here and there and slippery at places but nothing hard.

Great hike.... not to much up and down, and would be great for bikes although we walked... def do again.

Absolutely beautiful

Love this hike. Good place to take dogs. Fabulous photos.

Really enjoyed this hike. Great distance good up hills and good long mellow slope side sections. We went in September and the valley was mostly full of smoke but I still didn't care. And we live in Talent so its super close. Will definitely do this one again.

Wanted to see the lunar eclipse but Oregon was on fire! Amazing hike and really beautiful. Trails are pretty overgrown now though. Wished I'd wore my gaiters. ☺️ magical experience though!

Well-maintained trail accessing the southwestern corner of the Sky Lakes Wilderness. Camping opportunities are fairly limited.

Loved it! Great views to Mt Shasta and McLoughlin

Wow! So much work, so pretty! Only little bits of water and only one place that I felt safe filtering, so bring enough or bring a filter. Um, so I think it's more than 9.4 miles though. Trail is beautifully maintained, the only part I found to be sketchy was the sheep creek slide area. Just take your time, watch your footing and if you come down at sunset, make sure you have a headlamp! I did not encounter any wildlife besides a doe.
