Easy hike with plenty to see and hear. Loved walking through the forest and hearing the ocean waves. Great panoramic views from the highest point, and make sure to head to the end of the Cape Falcon trail to view the secluded black sand beach. We got to the trail head at about 8:45 and only started encountering other hikers on the way back, so go early for more quiet time, as this is a popular route with families. My favorite hike on the coast!

Very easy and fun hike! Great view at the end to sit, watch the ocean, and eat and rest. The view is awesome! Also visit the beach after and put your feet in the water to cool off!

The trail was not overgrown but there are lots of old tree roots obstructing the path, which was not a problem for me, but may be for other hikers looking for an easy trail. The trail follows a stream that you can see for a portion of the hike. You can hear the sound of the waves and the stream as you walk along the trail. At one point, I came across a part of the trail that had completely fallen out and was difficult to cross. The remainder of the trail was great and easy. The beach is protected and there is little wind. I arrived just in time to see the sunset and the views were spectacular. A great surfing spot as well!!! If you walk down the right side of the beach and the tide is low, you may see a few starfish!

There are several unwritten side trails from the Neahkahnie headland. From the parking area on Hwy 101, descend toward Short Sands and look for a side trail on the left, about 200 yards from the parking. Welcome to the Neahkahnie Punchbowl! From here there are numerous side trails all over the headland. I like the one that traverses uphill to a heavily wooded cliff with outstanding ocean views, but watch your step. These trails continue across the headland to more views on the south side before looping back to the parking area. There are additional scramble trails that start further up the highway by climbing over a wall and descending toward the surf, but be very careful as these are not maintained and can be very thick with overgrowth.

This is a great trail, done it many times over the past 50 years, even with grandparents who were in their '70's!

Great trail. Very well maintained. Easy hike. This trail has everything: beautiful walk through the forest with old spruce trees, amazing views of the coast, a small secluded waterfall, and a spectacular panorama view of Cape Falcon at the end.

A lovely hike, with a big view payoff at the end. Relatively easy, with moderate ups and downs, but there are lots of tree roots to step through on the path so anyone with a tendency to fall needs to take care. Parking lot fills up by 11, so get there early!

My favorite hike on the beautiful Oregon coast

Only challenging in a few spots and absolutely beautiful throughout the trip!

Trail was very overgrown when we did it a few weeks ago. There was a crew working on it so maybe it's better now. The views were nice but quite frankly this was one of my least favorite hikes I've done this year. In my opinion there are way cooler things to see in the area. If you are just looking for a wooded walk with a few views along the way maybe you'd really enjoy it, just not my thing.

Very beautiful, but fills up quickly. If you’re looking for some peaceful hiking, get here early. Aside from that, well worth checking out ❤️

Easily completed with a little dog in tow. Trail is well marked and the views from the top are life-altering. We got hit with a storm as we reached the summit and the wind was a bit treacherous from the top but well worth it. Watch for whales!

So beautiful

Nice hike. Easy ups and downs. Any level hiker will enjoy this. View at the end was fabulous. Keep walking when you get to the cape. You have to push through some shrubs to get to the point, but it’s so worth it.

Beautiful, easy hike. Was getting more crowded w field trips as we were leaving.

Another fabulous Oregon Coast Trail. You can also park at the south end of the trail and hike to the top making it an in-and-out hike. Going this way, the total in-and-out distance is about 3 miles. Elevation gain is about 1200 feet and I would classify this as a moderate hike.

No idea what the previous review is talking about... except maybe he's trying to keep this excellent hike to himself.

Note to hikers: This is an Oregon Coast trail and the Oregon Coast is essentially a rain forest -- so guess what that means? Muddy trails. Also, not surprisingly, there are lots of trees and plants growing here... which means, not surprisingly, there are often lots of roots on the trails. So, if muddy trails with lots of roots are not for you, you might want to consider skipping hiking on the Oregon Coast all together.

Nice easy hike down to the beach and back. Kids managed just fine. Would definitely do again.

This was a gorgeous hike! Many wildflowers, berries to eat, beautiful trees! Trail is easy to follow and well maintained. In the shade most of the hike. Spectacular views from the top. One of my favorite all time hikes!

Super fun and easy hike. Took my 9 year old. Very little mud on the trails but we did see a deer. It’s nice to have the beach towards the end to enjoy.

Super easy walk to a gorgeous beach with bathrooms, a waterfall flowing into the ocean, and lots of surfers !

amazing. we even saw a whale

Beautiful views... a little muddy in places but a nice easy hike!

Started at the South end and hiked to the summit and back. I was not impressed with this trail. From the south end the trail we hiked through the forest without any views. Just looked at ferns, moss, and cedars. The view at the top was pretty cool. There is a spot you can scramble up and have great views. Over all I wouldn't do this trail again. It was approx 1.5 miles from South end to summit.

Really great hike, beautiful views. Would love to go back soon.

A little muddy. Great views.

Took me and my girlfriend around 2 hours 45 minutes to complete with around a half hour at the top. Not to difficult but am in decent physical condition. The first 15-20 minutes is pretty thick brush (got stung by something on my arm) but trail opens up after that. View at the top is beautiful. Entrance to the hike is well marked with a sign.

When I arrived at the trailhead all the parking lots were full. Had to park along the highway as many others had done. However, most of the people went to the beach as the Cape Falcon trail didn't have that many people on it. The trail was muddy in a few places but otherwise in good shape. As others have mentioned there are a lot of tree roots, but other than that it is an easy hike with outstanding views.

Great views...however there are a number of very overgrown areas.
