Great fire road hike. Did one off shoot trail to get a little muddy. Good steady incline!

Great trail to make a nice workout. but I am also way outta shape

Challenging at times, listened to owl talk to me and enjoyed the snowy view. I took a wrong turn and feel signage could be better. I will go again later Spring as too much snow closer to top. Lots of creek access for my lab so she was happy. 4 star because lack of signs.

Great views and a fun, challenging hike. Took me about 2:40 minutes to finish, I would have been quicker if it wasn’t for the 6” of snow on most of it! Crazy end of March weather.

I went back in early December of a sunny day. Bit unclear at times when I came to a couple forks in the road. I looped around the southwest side and the view of Mary's Peak getting swallowed by a storm cloud was awesome! Overall, challenging and enjoyable day.

Steep and pretty.

An enjoyable New Years Day walk. Stopped for a lunch break near the top.

Easy and enjoyable.

A great day hike to get out for a few hours, my boyfriend and I took the trail going up and took a smaller trail back. It was pretty and a great hike! Wasn't busy so it was nice to feel like the only ones on the trail

1st time! We will be back!

It's an uphill maze. With a decent view.

I really wanted 3 1/2 stars. it's cool, nice hike, trails all over. not alot of viewpoints or anything.

The only way I've been able to navigate the peavy Arboretum trails is using this app. Every other time I have gotten discouraged by the massive number of trails available. It is very easy to add miles to your hike if you want considering the number of available trails.

Pretty neat hike wouldn't really call it difficult.

This hike varies in difficulty but is overall harder than most trails in the vicinity. Beautiful scenery all times of the year with friendly Oregonians make this a must-do!

great trail, but part of it is on a logging road. it's always nicer not hiking on a logging road.

Great trail and a great hike. If you take the loop to the right at the beginning, its a pretty strong elevation gain. After that the trail will be a gentle downslope the rest of the way, so that's nice. Dogs are allowed but need to be kept away from the creek (OSU research). I've only hiked this trail in the summer where it's dry, but it looks like it could get pretty muddy in the winter. All in all, a great afternoon hike. 1 - 1 1/2 hours.

Nice climb with good views. A few spots that could have better markings. Planned to run the loop but had to walk due to steepness at top. Give it a go and see if u can make it.

nice quite walk

Very good views once you get to the peak. Also if when you come down the hill from the peak, at the 4 way junction you go straight and up the road in front of you, you'll get another great view.

Road near turn about (Davies onto Nettleton) had a sign that the current path was not to be entered (didn't state at the beginning of the trail), that made us wonder if we had turned off path. We continued and went down Nettleton back to parking lot.

Easy to moderate trail.

Long ascent on a mountain bike (great workout!) followed by a sweet downhill back to the car park. Well marked path and spectacular views from the top.

Just follow the signs for McCulloch peak all the way to the top, then take your pick of any downhill trail back towards Oak Ridge--they all end up at pretty much the same spot.

Would definitely go again and explore some more of the single track offshoots!

Really fun

Tuesday, September 08, 2015

We did this hike in the afternoon and most of the hike was shaded. I really loved the smells on this hike, nothing quite like an Oregon forest. The start of the hike really ascends and the total ascend/descend of the route we took (I loaded it into the tracks section) was 1,334 ft. We saw two cougar siting posters on the trails, which was exciting for my 10-year old son, but did not see any predators. Also, in the 7.5 miles we came across very few people, most were near the end.

I plan on doing this hike again as it is close and is a pretty good workout.

We went up the Sulphur Springs side this time and made the large loop on the 700 Road.....nice workout, great to be in the woods, and not too many people.
