The first section along the river was interesting - generally what I'd call an advanced intermediate. There were a few other mildly technical sections near the top - still along the river. It was very smooth going from there to the far west side which we branched out into Lost Dream Trail to extend the ride. There is one interesting technical section on the far side - a short but fairly serious rock garden that will keep you alert on the way down. We spent some time attempting to ride back up, but only my son was able to accomplish that. I would consider the ride down as beginning advanced, and the ride up as intermediate advanced. The rest is very smooth until the parking lot. There's an interesting challenge just as you return to the outhouses in the form of a bench with a small rock in front of it. We popped up on the bench after several attempts.

Great trail. Didn’t see anyone on the trails until I reached back to the parking lot. Mostly sun, not much shade. It was a pretty easy hike, only one incline at the beginning, other than that it was pretty flat. Good for a day that is not too hot.

Good medium length hike, very close.

I’d call this an easy hike, as it’s pretty flat and a nice stroll. The river canyon is beautiful! Watch out for bikers though, it’s a narrow trail and sometimes the bikes just come out of no where.

2nd time mountain biking and I felt like this one is a great trail especially for beginners who are learning, a few technical spots going over the rocks. We had a great time!

I liked the flatness and openness of the trail system here. You can choose how far you want to go. However, at least at this portion of the trail system it was mostly single track. Bikes would just come out of nowhere, having no regard for us hikers. That's my only semi-complaint.

Awesome trail, would be super fun to bike it. My dog ran around the whole time and I only saw two people.

I hiked this trail 2 weekends ago, it is good for hikes also. But definitely bikes will be coming through the area. I am a novice mtn biker, just picked it up, and this was a great trail for beginners like me. It is flat with not many uphill climbs, but there is plenty of downhills. There are some technical spots and some rocky areas where you may want to get off and walk if you are not comfortable. I am new to mtn biking but not biking in general so I felt very comfortable and I know my athletic ability. I will definitely be back!

A nice hike through Juniper forrest with a good view of the Deschutes River Canyon at the end. Views of the Cascades are rare and really not great. Beautiful cirrus clouds today and the deer were active in the late afternoon. Probably better left to mountain bikers based on the amount of tracks on trails.

Good trail conditions today.

Not a very exciting December hike, probably much better in the spring or fall. We did enjoy the hike down to the Deschutes. Also, it's listed as moderate, but except for distance, it's fairly easy.

Nov. 8th Trail is marked along the way for splits, take photo of map at trial head to help along hike. View of buttes and a couple mountains peaking in here and there. Typical indigenous Central Oregon desert life along the way. I haven’t been on this trail while in bloom but I’d guess it’s littered with wild flowers. My dog had a great time was easy to get off trail to allow bikers to pass. Looking over the canyon edge down to the river was a treat. Happy hiking.

great trails, not a lot of traffic perfect for dogs.

Amazing ride! Super easy, where you can get your riding legs on (stay right on the trail) then practice your skills in some technical rock gardens. Excellent ride for a stroll or for speed!

Great trail, a fun easy ride. No shade so be aware if you go on a hot day.

Great trail for morning or evening trail runs as it’s a classic high desert track.

We tried to do the Lost Dream Trail but it was blocked off with branches and the only other trail we saw was hard to walk through with a thick layer of the light sand. We just ended up doing the Fat Rabbit Trail to the canyon which didn’t have much of a view. Overall an easy walk close to town.

The best time of year to use this trail is winter. It's not hot, the lack of shade is welcome, and the snow is fun to tromp in. Dogs have a lot of fun here. There are rarely many people here. Not much for views here but if you like to meander, this is a great place for it.

The view at loop looking over the Deschutes was beautiful, and some of the wildflower species here are of interest, but the majority of the trail is intended for bikers instead of hikers. Fairly flat and consistent terrain, in dry soil, that is partially overgrown in areas.

Good but limited views. Plus was seasonal wildflowers. Clockwise. Little shade so very hot as the day warmed up. Deschutes overlook for lunch nah despite keep away signs.

Very nice walk. It’s mostly level and quiet. We only met 9 bikers , no other hikers (weekday in April). If you want to see more than junipers head out on the other trails toward the cliffs above the river. Fun network of trails with minimum signage.

Great, easy hike! Snow and mud on the northside but still an easy hike.

Spent a couple of hours here with my toddler. I wouldn't say this hike features a river; technically the trail is a ways back from the edge of the canyon and there are signs warning against disturbing the birds of prey if you go off-trail. (We did it anyway, and it's a great view, but you're not supposed to.) The rest of the hike is sandy and rocky with rolling hills. Not too much of a challenge. Bring lots of water, especially if you're from the valley like we are and are not used to the dry. :) Nice parking area at the trailhead, and you can customize your trip's length as there are quite a few intersecting, loopy paths in this area. Keep an ear out for bikes!

Good day how with beautiful views of Mounts Hood, Bachelor, and the Three Sisters. The highlight is a wonderful overlook at Cline ravine. this is a very easy trail that will not challenge you technically. If you're looking for a stroll through the junipers at Central Oregon and this is a great hike.

Very casual hike through the Juniper's of Central Oregon. This is a perfect family Trail if you're hiking with small children. If you're looking for something diverse in scenery, or, technically challenging, then I would pass this Trail up for something a little different.

It was a good easy walk back to the 200ft stretch of the river.. pretty views .. could be short or much longer depending on what trails you want to take. Most of the trails are used for horses and bikes alike.
