Visiting family in the area and am amazed at how close this beautiful place is to the inner city. Great hike!

Pretty in spring. Follows a creek for the first section. It was pretty crowded in the late afternoon, but it was nice to see people out having fun. There are multiple trails that connect with this one, so you can extend your trip if you want. Interesting little building part way in that you can explore.

Beautiful trail along the creek. Moderately trafficked. Cool stone structure known as Witch’s Castle.

Amazing. Moderate in effort, track is in great shape. Slight mud in lower spots. I was actually quite impressed with how dry it was. Slight hills, but all great footing. Good for kids, maybe not the little ones (6 and under?) Parking and access was super easy.

You’ll reach Pittock Mansion at the top - so fun to explore as well as bathroom access. Go do this!

Great stroll in the forest, and located right in the city. There is a creek running through part of it and an old mossy stone building to check out.

1st run in a couple years... defiantly a challenge little slick on the back but well worth it..

Great trail if you want to get out but don’t feel like driving out of the Portland area. It is muddy in some parts so make sure to have proper footwear.

My husband and I were visiting from out of town and really enjoyed this trail. It was beautiful and appropriately challenging.

Great leisurely hike. Wide path, not super steep. The trail was fairly populated - hikers, dogs, bikers. Pretty family friendly. Will return!

It's quite muddy right now. We took the loop counter-clockwise and were very happy we did. Holman way is extremely muddy, and a pretty significant incline, so it would've been tougher going down it. Also lower Maclay trail is posted closed for a landslide, but many, MANY people were ignoring the old blockade, so we did too. It was the least treacherous part of the hike, turns out. About 3 points on Wildwood portion of the loop required bushwhacking. Plenty of trillium in bloom.

the directions on here are stupid. gotta walk through neighborhoods. to walk from where it leads you said it would be 30 minutes

Simple, non-technical ride. Moderately hilly, but not punishing. At the ends of the trail, foot, dog, and other biker traffic gets heavier. I like this trail for training runs and for tune-up rides. Sadly, parking at the the east end is neighborhood and usually packed. Parking at the west end is usually better although there is less space. I do recommend this trail for easy hikes, runs, and rides, just don't expect anything spectacular. It's good for dates, families, and pets.

Great trail for the family.

11-27-15. Only giving 1 stars. This place had everything I dislike in over traveled trails, many many people, dogs and dogs off leash (not everyone like your dog like you do) the trail was more like a dirt road it was so overused, I thought for sure we would round a corner and see a Starbucks. Oh yeah... decided to take a side trail and ran across a cardboard/fern bum house. The only reason this got 1 star was no option for 0. Also broken car glass in parking lot, luckily not ours. I'll post a photo of the stone house ( with the graffiti ).

this is not a mountain bike trail. it was a good down hill road but an unsure why it labled for mountain biking should be changed.

Awesome for the family.... Right in the city...

Great trail. Nice and easy for the whole family. The trail was a bit crowded and we had to walk single file. Parking was impossible and finding the trail head was a bit tricky but that could have been an error on my GPS. The old building was horribly vandalized and unkempt.

We did the Linnton loop which was around 7.5 miles. We saw very few people for a Sunday even though it was drizzling. The fall colors were great & lots of slugs & mushrooms everywhere. Most of the uphill work gets done at the beginning & then it meets up with wildwood. The rest of Leif Erickson was on a large gravel fire road. Coming back down to Hwy 30 was super steep. Over all a nice hike & a great way to see that section of Forest Park.

This is a great trail for groups of runners and walkers who go at different paces but want to start and end together. The trail is popular but wide enough to easily share.

Nice trail inside the city, but just too many people.

The fact that this trail is within a major metropolitan city is pretty unbelievable, considering there is old growth nestled within this canyon. However, as a hike, it's a little too crowded for my liking. Dogs must be on leash or you will be fined if caught. If you have some small children or feel like getting out, yet not driving too far, then this is the hike for you. It is beautiful, don't get me wrong. The stone house is eerie and lovely. It's just that when I hike, I like to be relatively alone.

Fairly busy trail, but still very enjoyable. To make the loop you have to go through a neighborhood which made the hike interesting.

This is a great little trail right within the city. The Jay Trail is a favorite of mine. There is a pond with lots of newts and turtles earlier in the season but it does tend to dry up a bit as summer progresses. Go early to avoid the crowds but if you can't do that, you may catch the falcon handler walking around on the weekends. The kids will enjoying seeing a falcon up close and the adults will enjoy all the information that the handler shares on this wonderful bird of prey. And no trip to the Audubon Society is complete without visiting the birds in the care center.

Although this is rated as year round, in usually becomes muddy, especially on the Germantown Road side, in the fall through spring. Best time to mountain bike this is in the dryer Summer months.
