Nice level hike or beginner mountain bike trail with great river scenery along half the hike. Can park at several locations along the route. Beginning point shown is in a campground and doesn’t have visitor parking but camp host let us park.

I've explored every trail in La Pine State Park numerous times over, but somehow all my wanderings didn't mark this route as complete on AllTrails. It's kind of a random out-and-back route considering there are numerous loop options. For virtually the same hike but a little better, keep by the river on the Big Pine Loop segment instead of the Cougar Woods which is more distant from the water.

Trails are open! We entered this hike at McGregor’s observation point and completed the loop. Some of this hike is completed on a road, but it’s worth it if you want the extra miles to complete the loop. Very easy and suitable for all skill levels. Easy to social distance as well.

Nice stroll through the woods at La Pine State Park

About half the trail is icy or snowy. I started at 10ish and finished around 1pm. Brisk hike but oh so warm mid-day with the sunshine on my face. Definitely passable with a little care on the icy parts. Plan for a longer outing.

Ice the whole walk. But still beautiful

The trail is 85% ice. We wore micro spikes and did the 9.1 miles The waterfall was lovely. Nice day hike.

Super easy trail, definitely more like a walk through the forest. We did it right after we woke up and it was very pleasant.

This was a great beginner trail for my six year old. she had to walk a couple short uphills but overall it was just what we were looking for. And I love that it's a loop trail. I felt it was poorly marked in a couple places so I needed the All Trails map to keep us on track.

Beautiful views of the river! Mostly level and most anyone can walk it without much challenge.

This trail is short and easy. There are a few nice spots to soak in scenery, but the other trails in this state park offered more.

We did the Fall River Loop trail yesterday. It was a little icy but not to bad. The trail doesn't really go along the river but it's still a nice easy hike through the trees. Be sure to take the trail to the falls it will join up with the main trail again if you just keep going.

Fun little hike! Awesome river, lots to look at.
