It was a great day for the pup and I to hit the trail. We enjoyed it but found problems with the lack of clear/consistent signs, poor maintenance of the trail in some areas and the amount of time we had to walk on the road. Not all areas were marked as closed so we did a lot of back tracking which added an additional 3 MILES that day. The mileage wasn’t bad, but I can’t deny that it was frustrating when trying to enjoy the day. For dog owners- please bring pepper spray. We were chased by two different dogs and it took the owners took little regard to our concerns when their dogs were lunging at us. My dog is 65 lbs and looked like a wimp compared to these dogs!
We enjoyed the hike and found it easy to take a break on the waterside. Be sure to bring some extra water while repairs are being made. By the end of the day, we hiked 16 miles and climbed 120 floors.

Great trail! Good combination of inclines, declines and flat areas along with forested, open grass lands and water views! Because some of the trail is closed due to a landslide we walked 6 miles and turned around and walked back. 1800 foot accumulated elevation gain!

Beautiful bike trail. Amazing views. I went in the morning and didn’t meet anybody on the trail. There’s some small parts of trail closed, but they gonna open on September 2018. Overall a nice mtb trail.

Today I went 2.5 miles out and back from the starting point and really enjoyed the trail. It was really muddy at some points (which I was really looking forward to testing my new boots through). Looking forward to going further next time or completing the full loop.

Thought I would love it, but it’s chock-full of ups and downs, and not just the trails. You get kicked out onto a road at least a half-dozen times. The lake has many inlets which are lovely but also defy your expectations and progress. A number of sections of the trail needed repair, but plenty of signage. The scenery is beautiful and mutable. Not many other people, but the omnipresent road violates the stillness.
My rating might have been slightly higher if I had hiked rather than ran.
I might go back in the summer on a hot day, but would only do part of it.
Very muddy in January.

In winter this is a long, swampy and somewhat monotonous hike. It has nice places to sit for lunch and abundant bathrooms, which are mostly closed in winter.

Part of the issue might have been that I went in the fall, but this trail was not very good for hiking... it was unmarked, parts were closed, and the trail was way more cut out for mountain biking. We ended up giving up on the tail after a while and walked the last few miles on the road just to get back.

The trail is closed in some areas currently, not super well marked, it’s definitely more friendly to mountain bikers than hikers. I would not recommend this trail for hiking. We hiked the full loop. Do not recommend during rainy season, either (this one was totally on us though!)

Loved it! As a beginning hiker this was perfect. The lake was beautiful and you get to see marsh land, fields, and deep forest areas. You have to walk on the road for short bursts but it isn't bad at all. Took us 7.5 hrs but we stopped often for pictures and lunch. Watch out for mountain bikers as this trail is popular with them but all we met along the way were extremely courteous. A++

Boring! Long but you see the same thing he the whole way, and mostly on flat surface.

Light traffic nice area for a little hike.

Nice trail easy to follow. Can be very busy on weekends. I like to go week day mornings, I have the trail almost to myself. Sad to see all the trash that's felt behind on the shore line.

Loved this nice stroll. Did a couple days ago. I logged it at 14.9 miles because the trail was rerouted, and not clear where the trail was at certain times. (So, backtracking) Every turn was beautiful. Completed time was 5hrs 23minutes.

Tried to enjoy the trail with my family but a bunch of running jerks tore up the trails in the Hagg lake mud run and did not come back to repair the trails..... ridiculous

Good for walking, biking, trail running, etc. Many spots to duck down to the lake. A lot of people.

Easy route. Follows the lake. A lot of people. Keep your dogs on leashes!

I ran around the entire lake - about 14.8 miles total. I did lose the track a few times, so maybe you could do it in 14.3 lol ... Some areas don't have signs, you also have to go on the street a few times, however, I did like how diverse the terrain is, meadows, trails, creek crossing and a large log to cross. Had a lot of fun! You get to see some awesome views of the lake a various vantage points. God is an amazing creator!!

This was a super boring hike. It was hard due to the distance, but there isn't much to look at.

not exactly sure how this received the hard rating. moderate Maybe. While riding around the lake is a fun adventure the current trails are in need of some maintenance and some of what's being done to them makes no sense. jumps have been put in on gravel paths. one very fast section of hard dry ground now also has gravel on it which simply serves to slow you down. it was an area that had virtually no erosion and the dirt was extremely hard. Other areas that are further inland receive very little maintenance. over the years I've tried to do what I can to help keep the trail system and check but this current group really doesn't seem to know how to build a bike trail

nice trail. not to much traffic

Hiked it on a Monday from Recreation Area C counter clockwise. It was a very pleasant hike in cool July, very little or no mud. There are lots of blackberries on the North half, which were a nice treat. During the week there is not a lot of trail traffic, so that is nice. The trail was very clean. Lots of places to gaze out at the lake, and hundreds of cuts available to lake or road, so you are never too far from a break. Cell coverage was ok with Verizon. Have a good hike!

Lost the trail a few times and it was pretty overgrown in several areas but other than that was a fantastic time. Wouldn't recommend as a casual ride, it's challenging by both the terrain and time in the saddle, you will sleep good after this ride.

We hiked the trail and found it very difficult to navigate. It wasn't strenuous, it was simply impossible to stay on the trail all the way around, as the trail was broken in many places due to overgrowth, and other sections of the trail were very muddy and torn up from mountain bikes.

Really amazingly great trail for single track riding. It has somewhat difficult portions (that you can always walk) but for the most part maintains a continuous flow. I was there on a weekday and rarely saw another soul, and only other mountain bikers to boot! Great views of the lake and a nice variety of foliage and trail features. My tires did get caught in a large indentation hidden under dry brush on one of the open areas exposed to the sun, which sent me flying. Those open areas are often downhill and beg to be ridden fast, so be weary. You can also skip sections by heading up to the road and then finding the next sign post for the trail if you don't like a particular area. Go on a weekday and go clockwise around the lake!

Great singletrack trail. As others had stated, there are some technical spots. If you've never ridden singletrack, this would not be a good first go round. Beautiful trail, excellent scenery. It was a hot sunny June day when I went, so there were a fair amount of boats in the water, so there's a little noise from them, but not obtrusive.

It was rainy while there, so slippery and sliding, great fun and challenge to stay up on te trail and not on our bums

great little ride around the lake. Still some mud on the ground and some of the wood bridges were slick. There is a fee to get to the lake.

Was OK except for the people who were 'flying' remote control seaplanes all the time. VERY noisy and irritating; ruined that portion of the hike. Otherwise, a very easy walk with no challenges. Spotted a couple of eagles' nests and saw a number of herons, geese, and ducks. Very quiet once you get past the main parking areas.

Fun trail if you know what you're doing. I would definitely not call this an easy trail. Begins with steep short up and downs. The trail was very rutted and rough. It wouldn't be so bad but the trail is narrow and near shallow but steep embankment that doesn't allow you to catch yourself. There were a couple of muddy spots that couldn't be ridden around. Rode for several minutes, got several bruises for my bike, hiked it up a very steep hill and then opted for the road. I'm sure this would be a hoot for a more experienced rider but not one for the beginning rider. Though, you can ride completely around the lake on the road. Long challenging, but doable, up hills with fun long downhills (on the road).
