Fantastic Spring Hike. There was still some snow fields on the hillsides which filled the creek and added a wild sound effect to the downhill rushing water. The trail is easy but gradually up. A good destination is the waterfall. My GPS had the out and back hike at 6.8 miles, with 1,000 feet of elevation gain. You walk up a canyon into the mountains. Do this hike, you won't be sorry.

Awesome trip with great, scenic views and lakes. Bugs were not to bad and it wasn't too hot. Depending on the year, there would be snow until mid July, early August.

Winter hike up here, not too much snow right now - didn’t require snowshoes. It was, however, really icy. Trekking poles work great to keep you on two feet! The hike is very nice, not too hard but you can work up a bit of a sweat too with a faster pace! Most of the trail follows the river closely, the waterfall is lovely, and the evidence of avalanches really makes an impression; tons of downed trees and debris from who-knows-when.

Trail is pretty easy for the most part. Last mile is a little bit more of a workout. Took 3 kids on both trips with no problem whatsoever. Youngest was 7. Beautiful lake and enjoy the camp area at the trailhead, Shady Camp, famous to some Walla Walla natives due to a murder that happened years ago involving a local couple. Ann Rule wrote a book about it called Heart Full Of Lies.

We hiked to the waterfall in winter on a beautiful clear day. This hike is amazing! The mountains Loom up right next to you, unexpectedly and gloriously close. I highly recommend this Trail in the winter because the ice that forms on top of the running water is so very pretty.

10 miles down a gravel forest road you will find parking and a camp ground. After two quick bridges you start in on the switchbacks and the elevation. The trail is easy to follow and is composed of sandy soil and granite. As John said there is a small section of deadfall, but nothing difficult to get over/under. Once you get past the switchbacks the trail straightens out and becomes steeper. But that means you are getting close. It's a beautiful lake and a lovely swim.

Want to go back and make it to the waterfall. Great trail.

Montée jusqu'au lac Dollar. Nature d'une incroyable beauté.

Beautiful scenery. The trail is pretty steep after the 8th switchback, but worthwhile. There are a couple sections of deadfall across the trail (avalanche remnants?), less than 100 meters total. Spots of snow at peak (July).

We have hiked all over the U.S. but this trail has to be one of our most favorite. We even saw a momma bear and her cub.

Lovely! Very easy to follow trail, steep start to great views of wallowa lake, pretty meadows, and finally aneroid lake at the top! Really pretty this time of year (late July) and I would love to see what it looks like with more snow.
