Explore the most popular trails in Devils Punch Bowl State Park with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers and nature lovers like you.

Surfers and surf watchers energize this area! During winter storms, water from the restless ocean slams with a thundering roar into a hollow rock formation shaped like a huge punch bowl. The surf churns, foams, and swirls as it mixes a violent brew. The punch bowl was probably created by the collapse of the roof over two sea caves, then shaped by wave action. The park is a popular whale watching site and displays an intriguing geology. This is a scenic picnic spot atop the undulating rocky shoreline. Don't forget to explore the tidepools.

great trail and great view

Beautiful geological experience! Be very careful on the slippery moss and go during low tide. Very enjoyable!

Very cool to see really wouldn’t call it a hiking trail more like a sight seeing adventure

Short hike to interesting and beautiful feature.

Beautiful spot. Definitely check the tides and go around low tide.

There is a big hill to get down to the Punchbowl but the views are spectacular

It's not much of a trail, but if you are fortunate you can see whales. Binoculars would be nice to fully make them out, but you can still see them without. Just watch for the spouts followed by the shine of the bodies and then the tail.

Stroller approved. We first started with the big spruce tree trail and that was beautiful but not long enough so we took the loop to devils punch bowl. It’s paved so we took the stroller with us and worked out great. There is some up and down but nothing too bad. We saw all walks of life on the trail and anyone Cana do it in my opinion. No bugs and well traveled. We did see whales and berries. Will definitely do it again.

This is definitely a great small hike perfect when on a schedule but still want to see something cool while out and about. Moderate to easy with some great view points along the way.

Lovely little pit stop!! Watch out for loose seals!!

nice short walk.

July 2019. Not really a hike as it’s more a paved parking lot butted right up against the sea cliff with a chain link fence barricading you from falling over the edge when you’re out Instagramming the shit out of this natural wonder. The “trail” is all paved too, hiking boots DEFINITELY not needed for this one, you can do it in high heels if you really want to. Free, very over crowded parking lot. There’s a cute ice cream store about 300 feet away too.

went summer 2017 and was great just go when ride is out :)

Not much of a "hike" but it is very beautiful here!

I agree with the “not a lot to see but enjoy it” comment

Super easy walk perfect for any age. Parts of the trail are blocked due to damage, but easy enough to go around. Pet friendly with beautiful views and picnic areas.

Not alot to see but I enjoy it

This is an awesome spot on the Oregon coast. We saw harlequin ducks, oyster catchers, blue heron, harbor seals and a spouting whale! A must see when close to Newport.

Beautiful place for watching whales, surfers, birds, and maybe the best sunsets on the Oregon Coast. I’d highly recommend visiting at low tide so you can go to the beach on the north side of the point and go into the Punchbowl. Fun tide pools and gorgeous views!

There’s really no trail here, but that doesn’t matter. It’s fabulously beautiful, and a cool place to watch surfers and SUPers from a high vantage point.

We couldn’t find the trail, but I’m sure we could’ve if we hadn’t been distracted by the gobs and gobs of whales! Absolutely gorgeous site overall.

Didn’t find the trail. But amazing views and area!

This can be a short and quick trail, or you can extend it out all along Otter Rock, the devil's punch bowl, and the surrounding beaches. just beautiful. views a plenty, wildflowers, cliffs, mild rock climbing around the beaches. this was wonderful.
