This was a great day hike. Just park at the trailhead sign and begin walking. The trail was marked with blue diamond tags nailed to the trees, and was very easy to follow. There is a bathroom at the trail head and a the falls. Our 5 and 7 years olds made the 7 mile trip with ease. Picnic tables at the falls for a fun outdoor lunch. Have fun and enjoy the views!

The way up is a steep incline. Your quad day will be complete after this hike. Beautiful views at the top of surrounding mountains . Well worth it. Coming down is a piece of cake.

Wow this was a hard hike! Ali, Brandon, the dogs and I started at 6:35 am at Pioneer Gulch TH and got to the summit at noon. No snow for first 1.5 miles then we had our snowshoes on the rest of the way up. Incredible views of the sisters, Odell butte, Mt. Bailey. Only saw 3 other people on the trail. Did some glissading on the way down and ended up a bit off the trail, once the afternoon hit it heated up and the snow was very slushy with a lot of hollow pockets underneath. It was amazing but not easy and dangerous in some spots with the melting snow!

This was a great hike, the gate was open and we were able to drive up to the trailhead. it was very, very heavily used. parking was a nightmare. the falls were beautiful and once you got past the initial falls there were fewer people. had to turn back after a few miles because of ankle deep snow on the trail but a very nice morning hike.

Just a little snow at the top! Great hike.

There is still quite a bit of snow here. You can’t drive to the trailhead as one of the Lodge’s is closed.

Ignore my stars.. I just wanted to give an update on the road conditions. We tried getting to the trail head yesterday and found quite a bit of snow still on the road heading to the trailhead. We were traveling in a 4WD crossover, which did fine, but the snow progressively increased and the road narrows with 3 miles still to go. We decided to turn back in case it became too deep and we didn’t have the ability to turn around down the road. It would be passable with snow tires or maybe a little bit bigger car. In reality our car would have probably done fine but it made me a little nervous. We will definitely be back to do this hike in the future!

Completed this hike on our Vacation last week! Just came in on the gravel road side of the trail and it was easy to walk and great views! Worth doing if you are there!

Excellent hike with stunning views on a clear day! Tough incline heading up, but well worth the views. Snowshoed in mid- March

Awesome trail - easy to follow, great beginner snowshoe, but spectacular views make it perfect for all levels of skill. Didn’t do the loop - just went out and back on the trail side, decided to nix the road section. Lots of fresh powder as of today, but it won’t last long!

This is a great winter get away!! Close to Bend and a good cross country ski!! On the weekend it is really crowded, but on the week day it is a good choice!! The views are spectacular and if you like waterfalls it is a must see!!

Great views and a really nice trail, hard hike but a good challenge

Snowshoed on a clear day in January. Followed previous tracks up, and blazed our own trail coming back down. Quite steep at the final ascent, but manageable. View from the top was breathtaking.

By following the existing trail forged by those before me, I went straight up - round trip with some wandering around at the summit left my GPS showing only 2.98 miles. Snow was an icy pack the whole way up. Summit would be fantastic... On a day without a complete whiteout. Still worth the trip, great length and strenuous for a weekend day hike between breakfast and a late lunch. I look forward to going up in the spring.

Please park in usfs parking lot at trail head not in front of gate during winter months. Too many rigs block access to the home owners further down the road. Nice walk but respect those that live near by.

Hiked 2/4. Road up to the trailhead and trail in good shape. Last 1/4 mile a bit dicey with snow. It was doable in boots for sure, but would have felt a bit better in yak tracks.

Beautiful hike for snowshoes. Trail is covered so you’re at the mercy of the previous snowshoer who picked a pretty spicy grade up to the top.

Pretty spicy little moderate hike. Fantastic views. Little bit of snow on the top. Not enough to warrant snowshoes or spikes. Wind shifts up top and temps plummet. Layer accordingly.

5 star view, hike was %99 uphill to the top. Don’t go in January like me, save it for warmer months based on the tower being closed and other ALLTRAILS photos. Also did SMITH ROCK yesterday so this one doesn’t come close in comparison.

Went with a group of friends back in July 2017 and had a blast. We went at 430 in the morning to see the sunrise, definitely worth doing again!! I can’t wait to visit so I can go back

easy nice views

This was an easy hike. Majority of it is walking up a gravel road but the scenery isn't horrible. Tried to get back to double falls but encountered to much ice on the trail. There is also a trail to get behind the falls and to the bottom

A bit icy toward the top but phenomenal views!

Awesome in January!

Nice burn, and great views all the way up. Hit it early to beat traffic.

Loved the view, this was an absolutely beautiful winter hike! I’d definitely recommend hiking past the top of the first falls, following the river for another mile or so to Double Falls. Level, flat and easy for a majority of the way, the last 1/4 mi to the top of the Falls provides a slight incline for children. The trail loop will begin on a service road, but the loop back was much more enjoyable, in the woods, and secluded. When you hit Silverlake Lodge at the end, the single road bridge next to it will bring you back to the start.

We hiked out and back along the road, in about 4-5 inches of snow. Very flat, easy hiking even with all the snow. Falls were gorgeous. Beautiful day. Our dog loved it too.

Beautiful

Was extremely cloudy and snowy when we were on top. Some pictures going up looked beautiful. Trail signs in winter we’re not very visible and took a completely non trail path up. Very hard and steep in snowshoes. Over all weather held this one back.
