Crater Lake lies in the caldera of Mount Mazama formed 7,700 years ago after an eruption. It is the deepest lake in the United States and is known for its blue color and water clarity. There are two islands in the lake, and, with no inlets or outlets, all water comes through precipitation.

This is an great hike for an easier view of the southern Cascades. Starts at a high elevation point and is shorter so the hike puts you higher than Mt Bailey without the intensity. Took 2.5 hours up and down. Hiked end of August and weather was fair. Not a lot of traffic for a National Park!

Wow... Was not expecting how cool this hike was. Amazing views all the way to the top. Felt very accomplished when we finally made it to the top. Be aware of the elevation changes, once I got to the top I started getting light headed and weak in the knees. Thankfully the climb was not very steep or it would have been a rough time getting down. Can't wait to do it again.

Beautiful views. Ascent is rapid but the trail is short.

Lots of great views on a sunny day. Even great views of the lake. Rime ice was awesome on the pines as and it's only mid October. Great hike.

Breathtaking views!! Pretty strenuous if unused to the altitude.

Great view of the lake and wildlife

The view from the top is excellent

Hiked this trail in June 2017. Beautiful views. Bees were annoying.

Beautiful views throughout with presence of great amount of shade.

simply spectacular. we totally scored with the weather. we were here last year same time and smoke from wildfires made visibility = zero, yesterday visibility was infinity. this is a must see must do hike.

This is the second time I've hiked it and it's amazing.

The wind was blowing today, up top was cold AF. Very very pretty from the trailhead to the top. Good hike!!!

Lots of switches on a wide, well-maintained path. This place becomes pretty popular on the hotter days, but the parking area is sizable.

Lounge on the rocks, freeze yourself in the water.

Very enjoyable hike! The parking lot is relatively small, some street parking nearby.

The trail curves towards the back of the mountain surrounded by large pines and firs. The elevation is slow and steady, trail is very well maintained.

The view away from the lake is just as impressive as the lake itself - old growth forests as far as the eye can see!

Short hike on a well graded trail - well worth it - especially at sunset! 19 Sep 2018

Great, well defined trail. Spectacular views of Crater Lake. It was challenging due to the elevation but there were plenty of view points to stop and rest. We did this in September and the weather was clear and cool. Highly recommend this trail!

Absolutely STUNNING views of Crater Lake and the surrounding mountains. Moderately challenging and the payoff is well worth it.

Everything about Crater Lake gets five stars in my book. Pretty strenuous coming back up, but it’s only a mile. Beautiful day, no smoke.

Amazing views of the lake all the way up.

The perfect hike. So many beautiful views and the trail was fun. We went in mid September and the weather was amazing. It took us about 2 hours, which included lots of stops for photos and taking in the scenery.

This is a very popular trail. And for good reason.

Five stars because it was the only place Brook could swim in Crater Lake......and she and the people waiting for the ferry enjoyed it. Nice steep hill with gorgeous views of the lake.. My phone app told me at one point it was a 25% grade. It's a bummer they haven't made a better access point for the ferry. It prevents many people from enjoying all of the park.

Nice hoodoos.... Reminds me a little bit of Bryce Canyon. Very short level little trail.

Nice little trail to the falls with no one around. I did it fairly early in the morning. When I got to the falls I saw a Rock Chuck or also known as a Marmot by the falls. That was interesting since I've only seen a few and it was the first my dog has seen.

Last hike of the day. Took some very good pics that would have been great if I'd been there 20 minutes earlier. Very easy walk...

Hard to believe, but it's even more breathtaking then you ever imagine it to be.

For some reason I didn't get a track on this one. Nice little trail with no wildflowers this time of the year. I did it late in the day with not a single person on the trail.

Not much to this one but had it on my trail list for the day. Likely the worst of the many trails I did over two days.
