Fantastic hike. A little challenging, but great.

Beautiful easy and short

Found the trail hard to locate- but nice enough.

A must do for anyone hiking in or near Crater! Reserve your spot on the shuttle to Wizard Island (3 hour tour is cool). Big steep day, quick elevation change unexpectedly hit me at the summit, but it was also due to the smoke from fires. Jump in the cold clear lake near the docks, sun yourself & picnic til the shuttle returns. Prepare for your incline back out of this magical place. Plenty of benches to pause at on the way back up, take a breath and enjoy the scenery.

Sun notch is a beautiful, easy, rewarding loop that offers a break from the crowds at the rim. I recommend this spot as a refuge for someone who is prone to vertigo and experiencing fear of heights, which can be intense elsewhere in crater. just gorgeous views of the lake and phantom ship.

We returned this year and the hike down to Crater Lake was just as memorable, but also more crowded. We had absolutely perfect weather and the water was as blue as ever. We chose to drive around the lake rather than take the boat tour to Wizard Island. Suspect one day we'll do that too. Worth the half hour down and 45 minutes up. Enjoy!

Short trail with lots of switchbacks, it’s shaded and has benches along the way. Very well maintained and is the only trail that takes you to the water

Quick hour-total hike to the only point to access the waters of Crater Lake. Thankfully, the smoke from the nearby wildfires blew in a different direction thanks to a shift in the winds so it wasn’t nearly as smoky as was the past couple days. Going down was easy but just remember you have to go back up!

Nice, quick hike that offers amazing views of both the entire lake and Wizard Island.

Quick hike through the trees offering some nice views into the valley below. Lots of ground squirrels!

Easy hike with lots of water features. Went counterclockwise from the trail head. No booklets were left to purchase as of 8/5.
Not too crowded but it could have been because the wildfire smoke was rolling in. Lots of plants, streams and stepping stones. Quite a few bees.

Short and easy hike to great views of the phantom ship. This hike has ranger led hikes in the afternoon and is wheelchair accessible. Pretty smooth gravel path with lots of “pull over” spots and a few benches. I agree that is should be rated easy instead of moderate.

1.5 hrs (1 hr up and 30 mins down) with 11 and 15 yr olds. Great views of the lake. Crowded but 4 stars due to smoke from wild fires. We got the views and we could see all the way across but not the deep blue color! Keep an eye on the crater webcam if you are not staying at the lodge. Dry and steep going up and starts at 7k ft so take water. And have lunch at the lodge after, while you wait for your table have a drink in a rocking chair on the patio overlooking the lake.

Love this hike, gives great views of the basin, crater lake, wizard island & phantom ship. It is short but it is all uphill. I went to watch the sunset on Garfield & I passed only two people who were headed down while I was going up

Super easy hike, and beautiful there, but not sure if it’s worth the drive

Beautiful trail with spectacular views once you reach the peak. Parking lot was full with picnic gatherings, but we saw no one on the trail the entire time. Mosquitoes are still around though, so bring your spray.

awesome hike, best to do in the early am. we started at 630, no one was on the trail. far busier after 8.

Did this trail early this morning (8/3) with spectacular weather and minimal crowds until the descent. I had the peak to myself for upwards of 45 minutes. I must stress the extreme crowds toward early afternoon-mid day. The hike is entirely uphill until you reach the peak, but nothing a moderately in shape person couldn’t do. Go early and enjoy!

Hiked this trail July 24, 2018. Easy walk to the falls. Lots of wildflowers and butterflies.

This is a well done trail and is exactly how it's described. It is strenuous especially on the way back up. It is not meant for elderly or unprepared. We did the boat tour to Wizard Island which was awesome.

Nice trail. Liked going counter clockwise. Crossing several small streams covered with wild flowers. Moving water and wildflowers make a wonderful time.
Donated a dollar and kept the wildflower booklet offered at the trail head.

The perfect hike... highest point in CLNP, Mt. Scott is a mostly open hike around the right hand side of the cone, with a nice ridge along the top and great views in all directions. Awesome spot to view Crater Lake and surrounding peaks, this 5 miler offers about a 1300 ft. elevation gain and a gradual climb most of the way. One of my favorites, don't miss it. Know that most years, the trail doesn't open until July due to snows, but the lack of snow this year left it wide open. Enjoy!

Great views of the pinnacles! Not to be missed!

Short but steep hike to the shore and back. A good way to jump in and swim in the lake.

Nice short hike with great views of the Lake as well as Wizard Island. Some snow left but the top of the hike is accessible. High traffic.

Another cool lookout/peak to hike up to. Views are incredible. Trail is relatively easy, just all uphill!

Short and sweet. Well maintained, fairly easy uphill trail. Lookout is locked up and in rough shape but it's definitely worth the quick trip.
