A mostly uphill easy hike. The views at the top are well worth the effort getting there.

Really nice view walking through Oak Savannah on hilltop

Low rating as your just following a Forrest Access road to a turn around point with no view. The only view is from the parking lot area. 1 star just because it still gets you outside.

This trail has a nice variety of steep but manageable hills and is doable in under 45 minutes at a quick pace. Great views from the top peak. Be aware that a lot of the paths are gravel so watch your step!

McDonald forest was closed today so we looped around Chip Ross Park several times to get 4 miles in.

Perfect for a 90-120 minute trail run after work. There's plenty of shade if you stick to the trails (not the gravel roads), and there's a stream about half way that you can cool off in if you can climb down the muddy embankment to it. The trail is very well-maintained and easy to run on, as you'd expect when in a forest maintained by forestry students. The view from the top of Dimple Hill was great! I could see Corvallis, the surrounding hills, and into the valley. If you have the energy at the end or would prefer a shorter route to a view, I recommend going up and around the Main Chip Ross Loop which also has a great view at the top, similar to Dimple Hill, but with views of some snowy mountains in the Cascades (not sure which ones, maybe Mt. Jefferson). This added maybe another 0.5 to 1 mile onto my route, but was worth it for me! NOTE: sometimes different roads can get closed for timber harvesting, so keep that in mind if you try to take a different route. This was an okay/easy and short hike/walk. I was expecting more views from the summit but when you get there it's just a flat overgrown area with trees all around. It was still a nice hike and walk, and when you park that offers the best view. Since it's a short hike out and back, we continued on the main road until we hit the old growth trail start if you want to extend your walk.

Half trail on a hot day. Out of shape and feeling it. Not much shade, somewhat steep, but pretty views and a great trail.

A great hike for the whole family. This is becoming our "go-to" hike spot since it's something my 5-year-old daughter can do with us easily enough! Great views along the way and a smooth hike.

Beautiful views; short hike that gives helps to recharge and destress. Because of the hills, you will also get a good workout.

nice easy hike to stretch the legs. I usually do this hike the day before I have a longer and harder trail to do. Can be super muddy when Its wet out.

The trail is gravel on the sections near the parking lot, but dirt the rest of the way. Some steep uphills, but this is not a hard trail. Beautiful views from the top, but some sections with no shade, so plan accordingly.

Great hike! Very well maintained trails. Can be used for a variety of activities - hiking, trail running, horseback riding, and bicycling. Most of the hike is in a wooded/shady and there is a beautiful vista at the top of Dimple Hill.

I like this trail alot. I always include it with Dan's trail to make it a longer sustained workout. And The view at the top og Dimple hill is worth it

This was a hike ! I did this loop with my 8 year old daughter. It gave me a set of sore legs for 2 days. The view at the top of dimple hill was Amazing as always. we spent an hour on top just relaxing in the sunshine and having a nice lunch. We will do this one again soon.

Nice view from the top. A nice, short stroll. Sure looks different after the logging project.

The only thing I don't enjoy about this trail is the gravel laid after a recent logging project. I certainly understand and it's better than the mud I was accustomed to!

Hiked this on 3-16 with my 8 year old daughter. It was a great hike and very well maintained trail. The view at Dimple hill was amazing as always. Always a great place to stop relax and have lunch. We opted to return via Patterson 600 to upper Horse trail to lower Horse trail. My legs are feeling the burn today but was well worth it !

Hiked this trail in between storms so the conditions we muddy, but so worth it for the view. Recommend downloading the map as there is plenty of signage, but with so many trails in the area it can be a bit confusing.

was nice and clear, but took a deer path up and didnt see that gravel had only been put at the beginnins of the trail so it was a muddy walk down

usually we do this loop one twice for a quick hike... great for an older dog. muddy in the winter

Perfect for a short hike. I like to hike 4 days a week so I do a super steep long hike then the following day I do this short hike to keep active.

One the best hikes in Corvallis, good workout for a Sunday afternoon

We (wife, dog, me) walked the first part of this trail late afternoon on a Friday in mid October. Spectacular views, good climb, and we encountered no other walkers. We'll definitely do it again and try some of the other trail options.

Well maintained trail. Slightly steep switchback turns closer to the summit at Dimple Hill. Very shady for most of trail. Gorgeous views of Corvallis and Philomath.
