We (wife, dog, me) walked the first part of this trail late afternoon on a Friday in mid October. Spectacular views, good climb, and we encountered no other walkers. We'll definitely do it again and try some of the other trail options.

Well maintained trail. Slightly steep switchback turns closer to the summit at Dimple Hill. Very shady for most of trail. Gorgeous views of Corvallis and Philomath.

Enjoyable trail run. The clearcuts were unfortunate though!

This hike was awesome. I loved the view at the end and would definitely recommend. Plus, you are under cover for a fair amount of time in forest so it isn’t too bad on a hot day. Just make sure you bring lots of water!

Perfect quick hike with nice views.

Beautiful views in several directions from the top. First 1/3 of the trail is uphill. Wild iris is blooming. Saw a number of woodpeckers and nuthatches.

Tougher than I thought it would be! Steep hills but great view

It’s my favorite local long trail. On a nice day the view is fairly pretty, but don’t go on a popular day.

I had a great time, but did way more miles than marked, due to getting lost both going up and coming back down. Good work out and hardly anybody else on the trail on a Tuesday.

I enjoy this trail very much. I usually head down the face of dimple hill when I get there and make my way to Oak Creek gate then back the way I came to make it a longer sustained hike.

Nice trail, but a bit muddy at the start on the day we hiked. Great view at the top from Dimple Hill.

Great Trail!! Super easy as long as you got the legs to go uphill. Had the dogs off leash most of the time. The only bad thing about that is bikers zooming down hill, but only had it happen once or twice the whole trail. Great view of Corvallis at the top!! Went in December and the beginning is super muddy for about 1/2 a mile.

The parking at the trail head is very poor, please drive carefully in the very loose gravel (I drive a 4X4 and still had issues). As it starts, the views are not great, not is the area all that scenic, but give it some time. Once the trail enters the McDonald Forest, it gets greener and picturesque. The trail itself is wide and well worn, and it easily handles multiple uses (hiking, biking, jogging, horse riding). The final view at the top of Dimple Hill is a majestic scene of the northern areas of Corvallis. I plan on returning to this trail again.

Always a fun ride!

Good wide trails, dirt was nice on my dogs feet. We only saw one other person so it was a nice low trafficked trail. View from the top was really nice, and it wasn't a killer of a hike.

Just good enough for my 2.5 years old! First hill-climbing hiking for her and she did it all by herself to the top and back and started complaining being tired right at the time when we got to the top and when we got back to the car. Picnicked at the top, the view of the entire Corvallis city is great.

Starting and ending from Chip Ross park was hellish this time of year. The so called road leading to the actual trail is a slushy, muddy nightmare that has been over hammered by hikers and mountain bikers. Definitely needs to be graded and gravelled.

Other than that this was a great hike! Pretty well marked at the various intersections, not abominable for ascent or descent due to the switchbacks. Quite a lovely view from Dimple Hill even with all the fog and sleet. Kind of an icy winter wonderland. Trails are well managed and are gravel bedded in a plastic honeycomb matrix to prevent erosion. Dog friendly hike in a wonderful part of the state.

Well maintained trail. Not hard, and the complete trail as given on the map should only take an hour. Tennis shoes should be adequate, unless it's been raining. 90% of the trail is shady and covered by trees. Dog/Horse friendly.

I tend to hike this starting from the Chip Ross parking lot. The first 2/3 of the trail are fairly easy, with a little bit of hill up and downs but overall pretty flat and downhill. The last third, at Upper Dan's is very steep: definitely the hardest part of the trail and takes the most time. On the way back, you have to go uphill on some of the earlier Dan trail, which is tough after the steepness of Upper Dan's but not bad. Beautiful trail.

Good. Had some steep inclines (lower horse trail). People were running the paths (crazy), I will feel the burn tomorrow. Beautiful and easy to follow trails.

One negative were no porta-potties at the parking site or anywhere on the paths. We went above the Chip Ross path (recommend).
