Very nice hike. Just wish there were more views of the water. Definitely need bug spray! Shaded throughout.

Paved & in good condition for a wheelchair or stroller. Shady, peaceful walk. Very good for young children. Nice bench about halfway in. Pond with a nice viewing bench at the end of the trail. We saw birds & heard a bullfrog croaking. I enjoyed the serenity. At the fork, the Woodland Exit is not paved.

Went out on the beach trail, intended to come back along the lakefront. Beach trail nothing but riding under a set of power lines. No signs for the trail that follows the lake. Finally found it by following the GPS from the app and found a private property sign right at the edge of the marina where the trail should have started.

Mud, mud, mud. Gave up just after the creek crossing, it was just too muddy.

Despite areas that are clearly muddy for most of the year, it’s still a great little hike. Only a couple of portions are slightly even upper end of easy. Trail is well maintained, flat and easy to follow, and the views are good.

Forested, well shaded wide trail with low grass. Far in there are areas that seem like they are probably muddy year-round, but otherwise a nice easy trail for the family.

Very easy trail with a lot of different things to see! We included both the Savanna Loop and the Longhorn Loop into the hike. We only went halfway on the Chinkapin Trail, then returned. The ground is covered mostly with leaves which made for soft walking. There were a few muddy spots, some easy up and down elevations, and one spot with water after a recent rain. There was a savanna, a large pond, lakeside shoreline, forest, a stream with a bridge, tracks in the soft ground from several different species of animals, many birds and bird melodies. The trail was shaded for 90% or more of the trail. I thought the trail was well maintained. We plan to do it again. It would be great for kids!

Not recommend! It’s not a through trail unless you are willing to step into muddy pod and unmarked woods. I follow the first part, which is ok, but the other half is not. Had to double back the same route

Trail by the lake is under water. Also the trail recording is incorrect. Stay on the power line trail, not the AllTrails recording as that is off trail.

We have had so much rain lately so for this trail rain boots are still currently needed in some areas! Overall a beautiful hike and the view at the end was perfect!

Easy trail, but if it has rained within a week around this or the ChPn trail, don’t bother unless you like mud. Summertime spray with off spray big-time.

Easy trail for people that have physical disabilities. As long as you can walk you can do this trail. Really not much to see except for a wooded area.
