Some parts required a bit of bouldering - couldnt reach the lake as the group was low on water - did 75% of the trail though. Coming back to trail head saw an ambulance caming to pick some people who had fainted on the trail due to heat exhaustion.

We really enjoyed this trail. We took our 4 year old and he did most of it with no problems. At the very end however we had to turn around because the trail itself was really overgrown and we didn’t think he could make it over the alternative which was large boulders. We will be back though because it was still a good trip!

A beautiful trail that was a little difficult to traverse at time. Bouldering is a part of this trail.

Great trail! We enjoyed it very much. The beautiful views were lovely. Gorgeous!

Nice short climb with very rewarding views. Trail is not always easy to follow though, but in the end, I always ended up at the main trail again.

Was hard to find, not marked from the start. Saw a sign for it about a mile already in the trail. However, it was a still s good trail.

A bit busier than we would have maybe liked (granted we went in the afternoon after Charons Trail in the morning), but the actual hike itself was great! Much more straightforward and well-marked comparatively to some of the other trails in the area. BRING LOTS OF WATER and enjoy!

Easily my favorite trail in Wichita State Park, there was challenging terrain, a good variety of views, and the temperature was significantly cooler than that outside of the trail. If start on the south side of the trail, it will "finish" near the beginning of Elk Mountain (which retrospectively speaking, we probably should have tested the legs a bit more between 2 of the more challenging hikes in this area

Parts of the trail were a little difficult to find, parts we could've done blind-folded. What I wish I'd known before we started? 1. Take more water 2. Yes, you really are supposed to clamber down that river of boulders at the 1 mile (ish)(from the sunset park entrance) mark. 3. There are no bathrooms or trash cans at the other (lake) end.

Elk Mountain Trail with Beaux. He did great.

amazing diversity of terrain, climbs and decents. trail is easy to loose. the all trails map pro guided us back to trail many times with the off line tracker. I put my phone on airplane mode to save battery life and the app followed us perfect. my 9 year old daughter was a little scared going down the boulders but it built great confidence. post oak falls was a magical hidden spot
