2,606 acres of uninterrupted hardwood forest sprawl over the many hills and coves of Strouds Run State Park The rugged terrain and scenic lake provide visitors a unique wilderness escape in southeastern Ohio
It's a bland trail. It does pass an abandoned and dried up beaver pond which is kind of cool. If you walk towards the feeder stream there is a cool little waterfall. My GSD really likes this trail. I let him off his leash so he can explore and frolic in the creek. This is a wet trail so expect a little mud if it's rained recently. Especially if you bring your dog. As a bonus there is a deep water hole under the foot bridge before the last hill at the parking spot to rinse off your muddy dog. It was plenty big enough for my just under 100 pound GSD. I essentially like this trail because it's great for an active dog.
Great park. The place is well kept and clean. I started this trail, on the northeast end and walked along the south side of the lake. This side was very easy and flat. But, once over the dam, and you are on the north side, things get bushy and overgrown in places. There are several downed trees across the trail and it is a little more strenuous, with more up and downs. Will definitely return.
Great trail, had to hop on and off the trail across the road once but overall didn't see many people and really enjoyed the day! Ate lunch on a small, private lakeshore beach. Went clockwise and the last leg of it, or the right side of the lake is a bit overgrown in parts. Still an amazing experience.
Stroud's Run is great! So much to do besides hike, wonderful place to spend the day with friends. One of the many things that makes the Athens area so special and unique. It's a beautiful park with lots of space and diversity for all kinds of different activities.
