trail running

This trail isn't great but it's our best option in the area for preparing for future hiking trips.

The trail is overall smooth, run it many times and I have run a race on it. No hills. But you do see the whole park, and this is the best park in the area.

You may see deer and wild turkey. Most of the parks in Toledo you can hand feed the deer, out here the deer actually run away from you.

A well maintained, short walk to an easy loop with a small shelter at its beginning/end. A few stretches of really nice trees. Looking forward to walking it in each season. Doesn't seem to be that heavily trafficked.

Very flat and hardy any rocks or roots on the trail. Very well marked with blazes, but you need to pay attention when it crosses other trails. One note, some of the photos listed are not of this trail, but other parks in Toledo area. There is a camp area on the trail that requires registration and payment ($20/$16 members in 2018) to camp overnight. Free firewood, indoor toilets, a pavilion with a fireplace (can be used unless someone else reserved it) and a dish washing station. There are a lot of boardwalks installed by local boyscouts. However, if it has rained, especially in the spring, your shoes will get very wet.

Unique and a perfect afternoon hike.

Absolutely perfect, especially with the leaves changing. A top notch easy hike!

A beautiful trail especially in autumn as the leaves are changing.

took the evergreen train to the wabash cannonball trail. we had a great ride! completed with a 5 year old on her own bike, a bike trailer with a 2 year old and 1 year old, and a 2 year old in a bike seat.

A good loop. Bring bug spray in the summer!

Great trial to spend 4-6 hours on. Bring boots if it has rained recently as parts can get really muddy.

Pleasant short hike.

Love hiking here with my pup!

Great trail. Fairly easy to follow the markers. Takes me about 5 hours to complete the full loop.

Great trails, cool lake. Bugs weren't an issue. Watch out for horse manure.

Fun trails, neat lake. Bugs weren't bad. Watch out for horse manure.

The trails are great, but you better be mosquito repellent ready or your run or walk will be shorten. They're the rulers of the park.

Nice trail that's decently marked. Can be a busy trail head which leads to noise.

Great trails only complaint is some of the low areas are all but impassable after a hard rain. More walkways needed.

on Evergreen Lake Loop

The worst of the mosquitos in the park, bring bug spray. And the lake is filled with leeches, keep your pets and kids away. Less busy than Mallard Lake for a reason.

Awesome trail. Only issue we had was a confusing yellow marker so we missed a left turn. It was soon after dipping back onto the trail after it runs along beside airport highway, but there was a yellow mark on the tree to the left side near a trail fork but further down a couple tees(heading straight) there was another yellow marker on the right side on a tree. So we went straight, but should have taken a left. Other than that accidental confusing shortcut, it was awesome!

Very Beautiful, calm, and relaxing.

I love this trail. It has a little bit of everything. Small hills, wooded areas, streams and ponds. I always end the trail doing the Mallard Lake loop. Such a beautiful gem.

easy ride

Thursday, April 20, 2017

Great Park System and Trails not too far out of town. When I lived in the area this was my "go-to" hike. Easy to get around, very well marked, and you will see something new every time! Good to go to anytime of the year.

I did this trail with a couple buddies of mine. We really enjoyed this trail and are definitely planning on going again. The only bad thing was that there were a few parts of the trail that were very flooded, requiring us to go off the trail to get around it. Other than that, the trail was pretty well maintained and reasonably marked. Overall it's a very nice and beautiful trail.

Best little oasis of peace in this area. I could spend days wandering this little park.
