Good trail.... over grown and not well maintained. I would go with friends or go to a race because there have been break - ins.

This trail is primarily for mountain biking with ramps and turns but is fine for hiking as long as it's not busy. After rain the trail can be very muddy. Some difficulty following the trail as there are not a lot of markings.

The park itself is nice, but the trail is pretty bad. It’s very hard to follow, definitely hasn’t been kept up, and it seems to just stop at some points where based on the map it should keep going. I doubt me and my pup will be coming back.

https://www.mecknc.gov/ParkandRec/Parks/ParksByRegion/Documents/RenaissanceMap091506.pdf There are tons of options to run this trail. It’s it good shape and it’s easy for all the office folks to get to before/after work.

I'm torn on this one. It's so close to home, and not bad trail for a 15 min drive. I only do the section towards to disc golf course, not the backside of the figure eight towards the baseball. That said after doing this three times, the best is to stop when you exit at the volleyball court and just backtrack again through the forest. The section along the road past volleyball is very overgrown and meant more for biking. I agree with previous poster there are never more than a few people on the trail.

June 29 2019 - I went out with my Lab to hike this trail while staying at a nearby hotel. Never been to this area. I was the only vehicle in the 500 space parking lot at 730am. The Renaissance park is clearly in disrepair (see my pics). It was sad to see the conditions of the park. The baseball and soccer fields have been abandoned. The concession stand is boarded up tight. They recently removed a fence that surrounded all the fields, maybe that means they are bringing them back to life. After talking to a local with her dog there is a lot of transients and drug deals going on in this park. IMO THIS IS NOT A SAFE TRAIL TO DO ALONE. Looks like some one is working on trail (wheelbarrow and supplies are .5 miles in. Several cars started showing up around 8-830. No kids, just adults.

I have never been this disappointed in a trail. the trail has the bones of a great singletrack but has become pretty dangerous due to poor labeling, none at all, and fallen trees or overgrowth. i finished about half of the trail because i couldnt even navigate where to go next at intersections. there are a few medium trees fallen in the track and a large amount of branches in some drops. overall this track is poorly maintained and not worth trying out for the first time.

For all the hikers and trail runners giving the trail bad reviews because of the mountain bikers, please know this is a mountain bike trail built and maintained by mountain bikers and open to all users. Come out to a trail workday and help us maintain it better. Tarheel Trailblazers.com for work days

65 and sunny, Saturday afternoon and only crossed one couple hiking and two mountain bikers. Adjacent disc golf course had 5x the traffic! Enjoyed having a nice hike close to city.

Nice for a city trail but the mtbs have really done some damage to the trails after all the hard rains.

went the day after a rain so the trails were very muddy. Mtb have made some very deep ruts in the trails where water just pools up and there's no way around these spots. Had 6 or 7 places where the only option was to sink my feet into mud. Solid elevation gain for being in the city. Even on a rainy day there were bikers on the trail so I'd imagine it is heavily biked in nice weather. I agree with other reviews that the trail is not well marked got lost 2 times and didn't fully understand the route until my third run around the loop.

Eh I’m new to Charlotte but this trail is tough on a hardtail. It is probably a much better ride on fs also is quite overgrown in some sections.

Great endurance trail for running in the shade on a scorching hot day. Also a tremendous leg workout with all of the drop offs downhill when your legs are fatigued.

Not the greatest/most scenic trail in the area but never that busy and always plenty of parking. A lot of room to run and great when you don’t want to have to drive far or battle Uptown traffic.

Dusted off the old Giant and took her for a spin. First time in a looong time mountain biking for me and thought there was plenty of good trail for all skill levels. Will probably go back again soon

Great train run! It's definitely a mountain bike trail yet runnable. Ran the softball field trail, and ended up in a few circles as the regular trail wasn't marked and I got shunted onto the 'short' trail. Hills weren't bad at all and were just rolling hills.

Should be rated moderate. It was a surprise when I stared this trail and it was nothing like the easy ones. This is now one of my favorite Charlotte metro trails now! Also very well kept for the most part.

Close to home

The Tennis Court, 3 mile, trail is marked fairly well. My 7 year old was glad to see the halfway bailout. I would rate this a Blue, intermediate ride, too tough this year for my son.

Solid set of trails for the Charlotte metro area. Glad I took the recommendation to scope it out.
