We hiked Courthouse Falls August 20. Nice cool hike in a rhododendron forest. We saw Monkshood flowers. Very special. The waterfall was very beautiful in a rock grotto. The water was very inviting for swimming though I did not swim.

Trail starts at the Turkey Gap Road parking lot & goes to the South Fork Mills River. You climb up and then head down to the river. It is a well defined trail but the yellow blazes are mixed with some orange blazes. Fairly easy trail to walk with some rocks, roots, etc. to go over. A good hike if you are looking for something under two hours.

Awesome views! Just wish the actual top of the tower was accessible. It’s locked due to vandalism.

Amazing views for minimal effort. Perfect place to watch the sunrise!

What a beautiful place for a hike and you have the option of seeing the upper and the lower waterfalls. Very well-traveled trails although some spots are very muddy, rocky, and narrow. Sometimes the trail can be a bit confusing as well so really pay attention to the signs. But it’s quite lovely there and a great work out, I would consider this to be an easy to moderate hike but be prepared for a lot of Rocky, rutty and muddy conditions. There is quite a bit of parking, as well as a restroom.

What a sweet waterfall and a great place to get cooled off in the summer months. Keep in mind there are lots of stairs, and the trail is is a little bit muddy and a little rocky. The path is well traveled travel and a half a mile.

First up, the drive in is off-road and on gravel. You will undergo some major switchbacks and curves while driving in the last 20-30 minutes until the trailhead. There’s no formal parking lot, so be prepared to park alongside the bushes. We hiked this loop counter clockwise which we thought was very easy and doable. In doing so, it was mostly downhill trekking with occasional creek crossings. My hiking group thought this trail was easy. No major challenges or fallouts during the hike. However, the waterfall that overlooks the top view has a huge opportunity for fun and potential danger. We slid down the water-covered-incline and found it was enjoyable (at first). Be wary! One of us ended up continuing down and off the edge where she flew off. She survived with minor flesh wounds. It was all fun and games until it happened. Otherwise, the trail was overgrown, not well-marked, simple and easy.

Made for a fun hour.
