Nice forest hike but yellow jackets are very active now. Counterclockwise, watch for the big Yellowjacket nest in the ground at the first or second creek crossing on Pounding Mill. Five of seven hikers got stung on this hike.

Spectacular scenery and lots of fall wildflowers. The view from the top is amazing. Lots of friendly people on the trail today. We arrived mid morning and got the last parking spot in the lot.

RT in 6.2 miles. The last half mile gets dicey with many rocks and roots— be careful. Overall, rewarding hike for the views, despite the cloudy conditions.

Fast, easy trail. Only detractor was the number of people (which I expected based on other reviews) but made it hard to enjoy the waterfall at the end. I liked that there were a few spots where we could hop off with our dog in the water, which bordered the trail.

Fun hike! We hiked this in the morning starting at around 8:30 on 9/10 which was perfect weather wise. Only saw about 5 people total on the trail. Tracked 6.6 miles in 3 hours total round trip! Saw a copperhead sitting in the sun in the middle of the trail so we sidestepped off a bit to avoid him. Great views at the end, but if you have kids or pets there is a big slope with a drop off so be carful.

Great family hike for small kids - wide, well established trail. Our 3.5yo hiked nearly the entire trail and it was easy to carry the baby as well. Well maintained bridges and boardwalk at a few points.

Excellent trail in Summer. Creek/Falls access to cool off. Relatively flat and easy. Well-maintained but can be crowded on weekends.

It was a fun! We had a great time! The water fall has great views. We hiked with a five year old and she loved it!

Nice trail, about 2.5 miles round trip. A bit uphill but easily doable for kids and dogs. Adventurous hikers will probably be hungry for a little more, but nice view of the falls at the end.

Not crowded at all. The falls are an uphill scramble. Don’t just stop at the bottom! Lots of fallen timber in the falls, but worthwhile

Trail map is wrong. Trail does not diverge into a waterfall trail that I could find. Ended up hiking on a vehicle service trail and found nothing notable. Don’t do this hike.

Way to short I wished it was longer. Very easy hike with stunning views. A great trail to take visiting family. I’m a local and it’s one most family can do. Dog friendly BIG PLUS!

this is a wonderful trail, there are so many beautiful stops along the way, there is a hidden gem if you proceed further. this trail is HEAVILY trafficked and it is dog/kid friendly

Such a perfect trail for a family! We had our babies in backpacks and it worked out great. The trail had a lot of beautiful streams along the way. Plenty for kids to look at! The waterfall at the end was incredible, you could even go into the waterfall and get a cool down especially in the hot summer! Such a nice place to stop for a break and have lunch as well. The trail was just long enough. Highly recommend this! Not too steep only in certain places. Very easy to get through. For parking… It does get very busy but there seems to be plenty of parking. We did in the middle of the week not on a holiday week and it was still pretty busy. But I believe there is plenty of places around the road to park. Definitely worth going to!

I tracked 7 miles in and out, hard but the view is so worth it. Plan for 3-4 hours total. Take Plenty of water and snacks

Fun, family friendly trail with nice payoff at the waterfall. Enjoyable and not strenuous. Nice was to spend an afternoon.

Great trail that’s maintained well. It is a VERY busy trail so I recommend going during non peak season. Otherwise, expect to run into people constantly. The first part of the trail starts off with a few sections of nicely built but steep steps. If you have knee troubles you may find this small section of trail difficult. The trail offers several nice points of interest such as, rock formations, river views and creek crossing. Not to mention the destination! The fall itself isn’t the most impressive I seen, but it’s a nice area to chill for awhile and soak in the natural beauty of the surroundings. Kid and pet friendly. Let’s talk parking: Parking is directly off the main road which is located in a curve. There really should be signage alerting drivers to slow down and watch for pedestrians in this area. However there is none and all types of vehicles fly around the curve. I highly recommend parking closer to the trail head if possible. Doing so puts you further away from the dangerous curve, which is also a challenge when your ready to leave the area. There is little to no walking space from your car to the trail head that doesn’t involve walking on the road. Keep your kids and pets close!

Trail is okay, nothing special. Walked it counter clockwise and found the backside of the trail hard to follow. We came across a trail sign not on the map and took a guess which way to go. We went left. The trail is not blazed well in this area and with several spurs it was somewhat difficult to follow the main trail at times. However, once you get past this weird section of the trail it was easy to follow back to parking area. We encounter recent bear activity on the last leg of the trail near the grassy open fields so be aware of your surroundings!

Nice trail, good pay-off, but the rocks can be difficult to maneuver if you have a baby in a pack or dogs on lead. I managed with 2 after doing the Ridge hike, but we were all tired afterwards!
