BackpackingGreat!Rocky

Great hike, just about 25 miles all in. Started at the campground, Kimsey Creek trail to Deep Gap, up to Standing Indian, night 1 Beach gap, night 2 Betty Creek. Weather was perfect, Standing Indian lookout gorgeous. Albert tower windy but also nice. Water from Standing Indian to Beach was limited, so fill up prior to Deep Gap parking area. Otherwise good sources along the trail. Oh, and the Carter’s Gap privy apparently not as well received as reported earlier below.

HikingGreat!

Amazing. Hiked with 6&4 year old and they loved it. Started left - would recommend as its an easy start and the hard part is downhill, not up. Would have been rough going up with the kids on the right. It was cold and windy at the start though. Warmed up as we got to the top and sun. GO EARLY. We got there at 9:30 and pretty much had the trail to ourselves. Finished at 11:30 and the parking lot was a zoo with peo on the street, everywhere.

Watch said 3.1 out and back. Skinny trail that ends at a fire tower. Last bit of drive out to trail head is on a gravel road. Great hike. We took our husky on a leash and he did great.

I had the trail to myself and it was everything I expected. Decent workout and a beautiful walk through the woods. I got called out early due to some sketchy weather. The tips about parking and where to start were key.

Very nice trail, narrow but perfect for single file and amazing views from the top. Narrow winding gravel road leading up to the trail parking was nerve wracking.

Nice trail up to a pretty waterfall. Some mud on the trail but the creek crossing were fun.

HikingGreat!

It doesn’t get much better than this hike. Did out and back from NOC to Wesser tower it’s around 13.5 miles. The elevation gain looks intimidating going into it and I was worried about it but it’s very gradual and continuous and only gets steep in a couple spots. Once you’re 4 miles in you’re treated to panoramic views, and you climb some rock faces which are the highlight of the hike. The tower is mainly just a landmark and the turnaround point. If you’re considering doing this hike then don’t think twice about it, it’s incredible. For bonus points, how many trailheads have a bar and grill across the street to greet you when you’re done?

I took the right side trail up, it is much more of an incline than the left route. There are many overlooks and look out spots. Very safe with a fence at main openings. Drove from ATL to get here for sunrise. I would recommend if you want to come for sunrise, plan to get to the summit 30 mins before to see the bright red/orange colors before the sun peeks over the mountain.

Nice little trail, short and pretty easy with two dogs and a beautiful waterfall! A little narrow and one rickety bridge needs better support, but overall it was enjoyable!

Great trail. Well marked (follow the blue blazes). We came in the fall, so it was easy to see the stunning views. I can imagine during the summer it would be anticlimactic. Great hike though! Took just over two hours out and back with a stop at the overlook/clearing.

Great trail. Tons of wonderful views. Informational signs along the top of the mountain. My 3yo and 6yo did the route without much assistance. On a Wednesday 11am in November it was heavily trafficked. Only a few of the 30 people we walked past had masks. Note that you may have to walk very close to people on some stretches and there is a lot of heavy breathing.

Well blazed. We didn’t have time before sundown to do the overlook loop, so some of the views left a little to be desired, but still lovely. Our corgi pup enjoyed being able to run ahead on this one (see photos attached)
