Wide trail with surprisingly open high meadows. Must climb the tower and feel the cool breeze at the pinnacle! Watch for horse evidence.

About a 5.25 mike hike from the Moses Cone parking lot. The hike was beautiful but not too difficult, the path is well maintained and wide. We took our dog as well as our infant with us with no problem, the biggest plus was that the tower at the end of the trail is still in use (not closed).

Be careful trying to take the shortcuts coming down. We ended up following a game trail that dumped us almost 4 miles down the parkway.

We were looking for a toddler friendly trail. The wildflowers and wildlife made it beautiful and the gravel made it easy.

The meadow at the base of the mountain, around the Cone cemetery, is our favorite spot for wildflowers in the area.

Nice for a great walk or running trail. Don’t actually consider this hiking, personally. The trail is extremely wide (with horse droppings) so this fit in more as a nature walk. Pretty scenery and easy for everyone.

Easy, wide open hike. Horses walk this trail frequently. Part of the trial is being worked on and “closed” but you can still navigate around.

A calm and peaceful place. I loved the view of Cone Manor tucked in between the mountains. The water lillies & flowers on Bass Lake were lovely.

fun hike. lunch on lake

This is one of our favorite hikes, perfect for a nice afternoon outing.

Nice easy walk or jog. Arrive early to take advantage of the cooler mornings and fewer people. Nice scenery on the longer trails.

Easy walk and it is always a bit breezy there.

Trail was kept up very nicely and was clear of stumps. Pretty easy hike and the views are great. I recommend coming and enjoying the trails and nature.

My husband and I decided to hike the trail from Bass Lake to Cone Manor today. I was intrigued by the manor house and wanted to make a longer outing than just driving to the manor. As most others have mentioned, the trail is gravel and really easy to walk. Even the incline from the lake to the manor is very gradual. I gave this 3 stars though because it's overall kind of dull. I was most fascinated by the overgrown orchards but they are blocked from access by barbed wire and nailed gates.

What seemed like forever to get to the top was well worth it! Easy well groomed walkway.

Nice hike on a beautiful Wednesday. We saw the bridge across Boone Forks a few weeks back so decided to try coming at the falls by a different route. Took Rich Mountain trail to the MST down to Hebron Falls. Nice hike but all uphill on the way back. Makes for a good workout

Nice trail to run.

Flat. It’s a perfect place for strollers. There’s a cool water pool at one side of the lake. There’s several species of water fowl here.

Easy going. Great loop

Nice wide graveled trails with changes in scenery. Mostly wooded but some nice open pastures. Great lunch spot at the top on a stone wall with 360 degree view. Regularly used by horses but easy to step around the horse biscuits. Nice gentle consistent incline; almost an easy trail but not quite. Park crews were actively clearing deadfall from recent snowstorms right at the top when we were there.

Very nice hike - nice view from the Cone Manor, but most of the trail is a great walk through the woods and around the lake. We didn't know the trail as well as most - and since the trail really isn't marked clearly - it's easy to cut out the "maze" section of the hike and go up to the "apple barn".

If you want a nice stretch of the legs on a non- strenuous trail, this is it! A nice change from steep, rocky trails. Very peaceful and pretty. Plenty of water along the way for dogs. Not sure if the little streams dry up in the summer, or not. I walked it while leaves were still off the trees so was able to see the surrounding mountain tops. Very nice!

Lovely, easy hike on wide, smooth trails. Gorgeous views at Cone Manor. NC

Really enjoy this trail. Pretty easy walk uphill to get out to the observation tower. Have done this trail twice. The first time we got up there just as the clouds rolled in and blocked out everything. The second time there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Breathtaking. Really cool view down on to the Blowing Rock to the south and Boone to the north. Highly recommend if you have a couple hours to spend.
