A much needed hiking reprieve after doing Grandfather Mountain the day before. This trail and the waterfall views were well worth the couple of small hills. Not terribly crowded on the sunday that we went but I could see it being very popular especially in the summer.

It was a great short hike, a little challenging if you are not in a decent shape. I loved it, the view was very beautiful.
The descent down is great, you can relax near the water and dip your feet it in while listening to the water roar around you. The climb back out of the gorge is a nice little work out.

If you are just looking to hike down into the Gorge there are better routes with better views. If you want to camp this is a great trail there are several spots next to cascades. This reminds me a bit of Harper Creek Falls trail but without the payoff of a 3 tier fall. Also bridge is out at bottom.

Hiked all the way down to the bottom of the waterfall. Absolutely gorgeous hike. Steep incline in some areas but family friendly!

Beautiful and easy hike. Be ready for the stairs but the rest is easy.

Beautiful and strenuous hike. Worth every minute. Wear waterproof hiking boots and make sure you have strong traction. About .5 miles into the hike it gets strenuous. Lots of mountain climbing.

Beautiful falls! The trail leading to the bottom of the falls is really nice to take in great views and sounds! Did this hike with small kids (3,7) and they loved it!

Its on the harder side for sure. But the shortness makes up for it. Bring your sunscreen.

On the harder side.. but still not to bad as its pretty short.

Whoa. Great hike! Very steep and very rocky trail for lost of the way until you hit the river. Trail isn't marked but it's well traveled. It's about a 7 mile gravel drive in from the paved county road to the trail head. Good luck!

I was expecting the trail to be much steeper than it was. A moderate trail is very accurate.

Great hike. Will definitely do again when the water is lower.

Trail is longer than 2.6 more like 1.9 one way and s should be rated hard because it is straight down and then up

Really nice! Easy parking and quick to get on the trail. I did this hike alone and felt very safe. It’s moderately trafficked but not too busy. At each of the overlooks I had the area to myself. So pretty and not too challenging.

Always enjoyable. This is turning into a default area for us.

Loved this trail, did it with my girlfriend and dog. We did the trail counterclockwise starting from Wolf Pit Trail Head. The first night we camped right before the Table Rock split off. There are plenty of great campsites and there is a side trail that leads to creek for water. The second night we camped on the east side of the river

You do have to do two river crossings, this first one requires a quick swim, the second one more simple since the water is only ankle high.

The trail west of the river is not the best marked, chances are you will lose it. We climbed out of the gorge at pitch-in, the hiked out was very strenuous, we then walked along the road for about a mile and re-entered the trail at Mountain to Sea.

It's a tough trail, but there are great views and an awesome experience.

loved it!

Nice hike. Beautiful section of Linville river at bottom. Lots of complaints on here about how steep the trail is. With respect to other Linville Gorge trails I’d call this moderate to easy. There are a few fairly steep sections but you are hiking into a gorge. A little grade should be expected! As far as LG hiking goes this ranks as an easy trail.

Awesome!!! Yes... there is some difficulty involved - steep climbs, rocks and stairs BUT the falls are just incredible. Such awesome views.
WATCH YOUR KIDS! It can be extremely dangerous for any little one that you have difficulty keeping under control.

Amazing place to hang out or hike. There are so many different viewpoints and trails here in this area that you can see something different everytime. My favorite trail is the one leading down to the bottom of the falls. Its a tough little hike, but worth it for sure. Love this place.

Walked an extra mile because I got off trail. Thanks to All Trails map, I got back on track. A little ways after you start on the trail, you have to take a sharp right. That’s where I flubbed up! Beautiful hike. Rocky, root-y, and steep, and the river and boulders at the river are beautiful! Little streams along the way so dogs have water. Not sure how dried up they get in the summer . Nature’s stair master on the way up....! If you are young and/or in shape, it will be a nice hike. If you aren’t, like myself, it is a work out!!!

Definitely worth the hike. Pretty easy and breathtaking

Easy trail, park in the gravel lot and go in from there. There are 3 trailheads right there.

Linville Gorge is amazing. It is also unforgiving. Be prepared for some of the most beautiful scenery on the east coast but be prepared to earn those views. My favorite hangout in NC.
