Great if you live nearby.

Great trail - the dogs loved it but there was no opportunities for restrooms or water along the way so bring water and go beforehand. Especially loved the lake view after Buzzard Rock. Also, make sure to check out the raptor center while you're there - it's incredibly cool

Really pleasant hike to do in late October. Not crowded, beautiful views of the lake and the prairie offering a a great set of ecotones and various canopy openings (forested, open sky, filtered light) to experience. It was nice to have a spectrum of shade and sunlight on a 77 degree day. Saw lots of birds, hawks, mushrooms; all of nature’s treats to help clear the mind. Split rock trail is not this long, and I was looking for a good bit to do so I just kept turning left until I ran back onto the same part of hill trail and eventually turned right on it to cove, etc. There’s also a little trail along the water thats lovely to walk along. Regardless of where you are, there’s lots to see and smile at! A little extra walkin’ the same path never hurt no body!

I loved it! Shades for most parts , but also open in some places. Nice trail for biking, hiking, walking running!

Love this trail, fun path with nice little elevations and the lake view is a huge plus!

I love this trail system. my lab and I are both seasoned hikers and both enjoy the split rock trail that leads down to the lake. we can get 5 miles in without repeating the trails...lots of shade but lots of sun on the hill trail. we will continue to use this as a go to hike

No shade at some parts, slight construction at the start/end. Great simple hike, many dogs spotted throughout would be suitable for kids.

I categorized this as “Mountain Biking” but I hiked and jogged these trails. They are great for hiking and trail running. Most of the Hill Trail, Split Rock Trail and portions of the Cove Trail were wide service roads with gravel, don’t know why (from a technical standpoint anyway) why mountain biking isn’t allowed. Maybe they’re afraid of conflict with hikers or horses or of riders making their own paths.

Pretty trail with great shade (thus the name

Trail is completely shaded and makes for a good, quick wander in the woods when it's 95 degrees.

Great easy hike for a hot day. I went right after a storm so there was a lot of unkept branches around. otherwise, really great for a dog, super shaded and fun swimming spots.

A nice shot walk. Good for families that don’t want to go very far. Shady even on a sunny day. Easy, but not suitable for strollers due to tree roots.

Easy walk, but starting to get overgrown, the trail isn't well marked. Just keep your eyes open for the trail, every so often you will see a bridge. Definitely would do again

Very nice trial ... note to get to the Treasure Tree Trail there is a left (RED) offshoot of the Beechwood trail leading to the north end of the trail. The short connector section of the TT Trail to the parking lot is closed, you have to start from the road near the dead end or from the RED offshoot

easy walk , park is clean easy to follow ,plenty of places to fish

Did this trail today with the family and our dog. Trails were not well marked and missed a few turns - ended up doing about 4 miles total with our error. Nicely maintained trail - easy enough for everyone in group (age 10-40+). Few glimpses of the lake from the trail but no major lake views. Bring water.

OK trail, main selling point is the proximity to the city. Good views of the lake. Flat and easy. Not as crowded as you would guess. If you have kids, make sure to stop by the nature center, they will love it!

Went a few days ago. Definitely has beautiful views but is definitely not as stroller friendly as I thought it would be.

great hike took my dog and best friend...enjoyed all the different trails

Very muddy in some parts, but the graveled parts make for an easy jog

Very nice walk; perfect for a long lunch if you work nearby. Many different trails to choose from; this trail was mostly in the woods and the path is wide and easy to manage for all skill levels.
