A popular destination on the Blue Ridge Parkway is Julian Price Memorial Park, at the foot of Grandfather Mountain, near Blowing Rock, North Carolina. The Park is adjacent to Moses H. Cone Memorial Park and together the two comprise the largest area developed for recreation along the Parkway. Comprising more than 4,300 acres, including a small lake, Julian Price Memorial Park offers many activities, including hiking, fishing, canoeing, camping, guided walks, and evening campfire programs. The grounds include 100 picnic sites, with shelters and comfort stations. A 300-seat amphitheater is used for lectures and talks during the summer months. Canoes can be rented for use on Price Lake. The park's seven trails include the Price Lake Loop Trail (2.7 miles), which circles the well-stocked lake, and the challenging 5-miles Boone Fork Loop Trail. The ingeniously engineered Tanawha Trail (13.5 miles) passes under the Linn Cove Viaduct and wraps around the southeastern ridge of Grandfather Mountain. Julian Price Memorial Park is named in honor of Julian Price, an insurance executive who purchased the acreage in the late 1930s and 1940s to create a retreat for the employees of his insurance company, which later donated the lands to the Parkway.

Easy and uneventful. Great for older folks.

One of our favorite hikes in this area. Fun! Lots to look at and you have the sights sound of the water almost the whole hike.

Lovely hike! The moderate rating was just right for our group of late 60’s to mid 70’s. We started the trail to the right and liked our choice. We enjoyed the babbling stream, waterfalls, and woodland setting. It was challenging enough to make it interesting! Will hike again when the rhododendrons are in bloom!

This trail is soooo pretty! Tucked inside the rhododendrons like a hidden trail, the light and the water make it a perfect scene for gathering your thoughts. Super easy, but lots of roots from the rhododendrons keep you on your toes.

Very enjoyable. A lot of interesting terrain. We went to the right at the trailhead and was happy with the choice.

Nice hike!

Easy loop that is great for an early morning walk with some coffee :)

One of my new favorites! Definitely was a small challenge, but totally worth it. Beautiful scenery, lots of water, and great picnic area! Definitely will be coming back soon!

Four stars simply because there are so many roots I felt like I was walking on shaky stairs the whole hike! Lots of down trees to go over and under and in between. All in all though it was a nice quiet hike with some great views in the first few miles! One can see so many types of terrain and landscape on this hike! Pretty cool!

Trail was beautiful. I would love to come back when the rhododendrons are in bloom.

Really nice trail around the Price Lake. Peaceful, a couple areas were a little damp to wet (did not cause a problem). Great area to come to as well to camp or rent a canoe on the lake.

Short and flat, but at least you get to see the lake.

Nice changes in scenery along the trail. Trees, rhododendron, flowers and lots of shade.

Poorly maintained trail. A lot of erosion and several overgrown fields.

Loved this trail ♥️ it was beautiful and nicely shaded

Nice trail! Suggest going over the bridge first. The other way would be a difficult start. Nice stream and pasture with flowers. Was quiet and not crowded!

Hiked this trail 3 days ago and really enjoyed the beautiful wildflowers and lots of gorgeous waterfalls all along the creek.

This trail is rated moderate, and at first we couldn’t see why ! About the first 1/2 mile in , it’s flat with a good path that runs along a beautiful stream. There are a few places that is a little muddy but not to bad. The trail starts getting rocky, with some large boulders you have to climb around and go over. There is one place where there’s a ladder made out of tree logs (very sturdy) that you have to use to stay on the trail. The ladder is between two large boulders. There are several small waterfalls along the way. The trail is nice but has lots of tree roots, so watch your step. It was a good hike, we went on past the falls further up and turned around because the trail seemed to end even though we thought we were doing the loop trail. We still hiked a good 4.5 miles total. There’s bathrooms in the park at the trail head, and picnicking tables. Lots of parking unless it’s a holiday like today was !

A moderate hike, well traveled and lots of wild flowers along the way which was beautiful. Parts of the trail are roots and rocks, so your feet and ankles will get a good workout. You will hike along and over the river which is peaceful and beautiful.

Lovely trail and sweet little waterfall but you have to climb up the rocks to get up close. A nice well traveled trail, wide path with rocky conditions and roots. Plenty of parking and a restroom.

Easy to moderate hike with lots of varied terrain. Would definitely recommend branching off the main trail in a few spots to get a better view of the waterfalls. We got there at 9:30 and there was plenty of parking but by the time we left around 12:30 it was completely packed.

QUESTION FOR HEBRON FALLS AFFICIANADOS: Does an informal hike route exist (I dont see it on the map) on the right-hand side of the water that one can hike from the MTS bridge down to the head of the 0.3 trail that leads out to Old Turnpike Rd?
