A recent relocation and upgrade has helped turn this good trail into a great one. Gone are the super-steep climbs and descent from the peak of Cox mountain, replaced now with more gradual and less worn new trail. My guess is the relo has added about .3 miles to the original, but it is all great trail.
Highly recommended!

Nice trail. Turtles on logs in river. Mileage does not include fanny ford extension shown on red trail map.
Easy to leave off with short connector trail. Quite a bit up and down. Rough terrain. Suggest older hiker like me (73) use sticks and good hiking boots.

Very pretty easy hike! Particularly loved the portion by the river. It follows a beautiful section of the Eno river with pretty rocks here and there.

Great Views by the river. A detour so it’s a little different then the map.

Fun hike

Nice hike up and down a bigger hill. Little walk along the river on the other side and back.

Great hike, lots of time by the river. Moderate traffic.

Pleasant, easy trail. Not busy at all on a weekday morning. About half is walking along water which is very nice. Saw a big heron and turtle during our journey. Great low key hike.

Great year round hiking spot, can be a little too busy during peak hours in the warmer months.

I enjoyed it very much. It inclines, declines, woods, trees, the Eno River, maybe other bodies of running water, ice, snow, sun, shade, a bridge or two, and more.

Loved this hike. Good spot halfway for my dog to swim in the river. Very few people in January once you leave the entrance/exit areas.

Great!

Really well kept trail. Started off wanting to do cox mountain but went counterclockwise and missed the turn off for the rest of the trail ...just follow the signs!!! Was a nice short trail with a really neat bridge. I may take my kids next time. Would recommend

Nice moderate hike with plenty of river time for the dogs.

Fun trail, decent elevation change. Terrain was moderate and trail running in the fall makes it very easy to stumble on tree roots or rocks. Be careful! I ended up at 3.3mi but I think I missed the 1.5mi loop on the back. I went counter clockwise and when I came to an intersection got confused and went back to the trail head. Either way, awesome state park.

This was a beautiful hike along the river. It was more difficult than I had thought (some climbing over rocks.) There is a long uphill climb, but it wasn't too strenuous.

Nice views and what not; however the Bobbit Hole didn't look as tempting to swim in as I had hoped.

Nice views of the river and a few decent places to hang a hammock.

Loved this trail, beautiful scenery and a good mix of up and downhill train

Great trail. Most of it use to be a road back in the 1800's. Can't wait to do or again.

Nice tree covered trail. Nice place to swim even though it's not recommended. Trail has a lot of roots in some places so be careful and pay attention to where you're walking.
***Parking lot very small and no parking allowed on the road. Either go early or go late. We went on the Saturday during Labor Day weekend and got lucky finding a spot to park in the parking lot.

A great local trail for a 2 1/2 hour hike including a picnic lunch. There are lots of roots, rocks and steps. A fair amount of elevation with a lot of switchbacks. We heard a large tree fall in the woods. The river was lovely, lots of people swimming. Enjoyed the suspension bridge. Recommend going early as the park was full by the time we left at noon.

This was a great workout! I combined Cox Mountain Trail with Holden's Mill Trail and branched off a little further to gain a few extra miles. Plenty of elevation change and rocks to get across. The river was pretty and had lots of people playing in the water and having picnics. I'll definitely be back to this one again. Part of the trail has been re-routed, so it doesn't match the map exactly, but didn't have any problems following the path.

This is one of my favorite trails. It is lightly traveled but well maintained. It is located in the Eno State Park and is part of the North Carolina Mountain to Sea Trail (MTS). It has a short but moderate elevation gain and many beautiful vistas.

This is a moderate hike. Nice and shady as well as a cool breeze on the day we hiked in May. Saw 3 snakes tho. Great trek, check out Picnic nearby for lunch. 5 stars.

Enjoyed a leisurely hike with a friend and her dog. Used my trekking poles for the first time here. They were not absolutely necessary, but the many exposed roots gave them a little work out. Lovely trail along the Eno River with pretty views.

Nice trail. When you get to the loop portion going left is the biggest elevation change part of the trail which I was glad I tackled first.
